The new Bernie Slaven, now that would be something.
Scores goals for fun in a poor League, can he make the step up?

24 goals in 26 games in the Scottish championship last season

Never heard of him and don't know a thing about him, but can I be the first to mention Kris Boyd and his SPL scoring record so caution advised! Although on the flipside there's Slav!

However, if Warnock wants him then happy to wait and see if it comes off and judge him when he plays. Let's face it scoring at any level isn't easy (as Boro have shown regularly over the past few seasons), so he must have something about him to get that many goals.

Hmm, last 3 years scoring stats are good for
League and cup albeit Scots League 1 and Scots championship.

17/18 Scottish League one 29 goals in 33 games
18/19 Scots Championship 34 Goals in 41 Games
19/20 Scots Championship 28 Goals in 33 Games

Is he abit of a Jordan Rhodes though who doesn’t offer much to the team.

I think that’s a Myth about Jordan. He worked tirelessly off the ball. Away to Burnley 1-1, last minute spawny equaliser for them. He gave absolutely everything. I’d have him back, especially as they have signed Hugill.

rumours started a year ago about him. He's a bit of a goal machine. Has been top scorer in his division in all three of his last seasons. 26, then 24, then 24. Was a goal every 3 1/2 games before that, but he was 21 year old or younger.

Of course the level he is playing at is poor, but he's worth a look

If he goes elsewhere we will have missed out on a key target

If we get him he will be slaughtered as no more than a non league player

Slaven was hardly known for his tackling or tracking back, was he? I would have Rhodes back tomorrow. We just never used him to his strengths

Seen a fair bit of him, whilst he hasn't got great pace,he's got excellent movement and has a canny knack of being in the right place at the right time, very good finisher too.

I think Bernie was a better player outside the box that he's given credit for.

This guy's figures are pretty impressive; BS's goals were scored in the lowest Scottish division I think, and he made the transition ok.

However, I've said in previous windows there is nothing in figures that are going to tell us if this guy is going to be good enough. We've signed plenty of players with good goal scoring records in the last decade, and none of them have brought their numbers with them. That's going back to Alvez, and it includes defenders like Flint and midfielders like Bailey, and even Clayton, as well as the likes of Rhodes, Britt.

What's his style of play, will he fit with our style, and those around him? Those are the questions NW will need to answer, rather than are his numbers good?

Still, it's a cracking old-school sounding name. I take it he has a huge handle bar moustache and Victorian era baggy shorts? If so, we should definitely take a punt.

First thing I did when I saw this link was check Bernie's stats. You are correct his goals for Albion Rovers were in the Scottish Second Division - 42 appearances 27 goals.

I agree with your point about whether his style will fit in with how Warnock wants to play is the most important point irrespective of goal stats. However, I'd say if he can finish, works hard and is not too expensive he's worth a punt.

His wiki page said he turned down offers to join English clubs in 2019 before he signed for Dundee United. He's had a good season last year and might want to test himself in the SPL but you don't know if you don't make an approach.

By the way unfortunately no handlebar tash but Movember is around the corner so you never know.......
