Latte Lath.

I've looked at the stats to find out how prolific he is BUT just as a CF since that's where we are looking at playing him. Stats below are CF and I've ignored his youth career (40 goals in 78 games largely on the wing).

My takings from the data:

1) went out on loan young as a CF, then started to play more on the wing, before going back to CF the last 2 years. I'm guessing he just wasn't physically strong enough until he was 22.

2) There is a clear progression at CF, went from rare minutes and few goals to being a first choice CF and goal scorer. His goals per minute have improved year on year.

3) 220mins a goal, for 40 games * 80mins works out at 15 goals. That's his career average and I'd hope he does better than that.

4) gets a few yellows, goes with the territory of working hard closing down defenders.

This could backfire but a potential somg/chant for latte lath when he signs and bangs a few in the net (hopefully)...based on classic song 'live is life'

Only got chorus in my head at the mo but other lyrics could be tweaked.

Maybe some rhythmic clapping for intro and theough whole chant. Then sing

Lah-tay lath!!
La la la la la...lah-tay lath!...la la la la la
Emanuel lah-tay lath!!....la la la la la

Lah-taaay lath!!
(Possibly repeat again from verse 2)

*lah-tay lath= my sing song version of latte-lath before anyone asks who lah-tay is
with name Latte, surely changing the words to Java Jive wold be suitable???

5m euro sounds a lot but it won't be in our top 35 all time signings, and if you add general and football inflation not in our top 50.

He won't need to go much to be better value than :
- Gazza, Digard, Fisher, Guediora, Ricketts ~5m euros
- Payero ~6m
- Bamford (2nd time), Gestede, Fletcher ~7m
- O'Neil, Saville, Flint ~8m
- Karembeu, Mido ~9m
- Braithwaite ~11m
- Rhodes ~12m
- Alves, Britt ~17m

My word, we have wasted some money over the years, 134m euros on that lot!

Still, the fee doesn't worry me.
Some inflated fees in here, Mart.

Payero was not 6m.
O'neil, Saville and Flint were not 8m. They were between 5-7 max.
Mido was less than 9.
Braithwaite was 9.
Alves was under 14 and still our record signing at the time. Britt was 15m which was and remains our record signing.

Unless this list was with the mentioned inflation? As I think every single player has had 10% or more added to their fee.

It's all in Euros.

Bamford was very good first and second time surely? 14 Goals in an uber-defensive Pulis team is no mean feat.
We then sold him at a profit, although we shouldn't have done.

Maybe some are a little, I just took these euro values from Transfermarkt, those will be the values when all bonuses are due. The tilda (~) symbol wasn’t an accident, it means roughly/approximately/circa in this context.

Ah, euros! That explains most of it I guess. Some still seem well off though.

Hey keep the faith, if I had told you chuba was going to go on and become top goalscorer and player of the year and we would sell for £10m + profit to Ajax you would of thought I meed locking up, anything is possible if attitude amd application is right and the talent is there!
Not lost faith, not in Carrick, and what he can get out of a squad, but we're significantly weaker, so his job has now got a lot harder. It's more frustration on my part I suppose.

Our permanent signings have not been so great for a long time (unlike recent loans), but I'm more miffed we keep letting rare good players slip through our fingers for pennies (relatively, compared to their actual value).

It's not really £10m profit, we paid £3m and probably £5m in wages and signing-on fees, which probably puts it about break even factoring for inflation. Breaking even is not so bad when you buy and sell players of similar standard but if you break even on players who are fairly average when you buy them, and are player of the year when you sell them, then it's not good business.

Never mind the ~£5m for his replacement or what we've spent on other players recently who are not exactly top of the championship level, they've just been dragged along by a few other good players and loans.

The problem is talent, like you say, Chuba's 100% proven to have that, one year is enough at the level he put out. I'm just not that convinced we've bought proven talent as none of them have played or done well in the champo, which is probably the 4th best division in Europe and we need promotion from it to the best division. Not saying the players won't develop though, but developing won't get us up, they need to be largely developed.

It's asking a lot of Carrick, the loans (to be decided) are really going to be the key I think, but I'd be over the moon if half of the permanent transfers were good enough for play-offs this year or next, or if last years signings kicked on enough this year.

I'm normally optimistic, but don't feel that at the minute, hopefully it's different in a few weeks, not giving up!

Wasn't Karembeu free or £1-2m? Sure he was nothing like 9m euros.
