Latte Lath.

We've invested heavily in our scouting and recruitment over last couple of years and seems to me that now we have to have some faith that they have got this right. The younger player we signed earlier we can afford to see how they develop Iver the next year or two but these two lads are 24 and we need them to be ready to step in and make an impact straight away.

For what we paid for Akpom?

Maybe, but fees have inflated significantly in the last 3 years.

Not to mention inflation in general.

€1 in 2020 is €1.18 today.
£1 in 2020 is £1.26 today.

It's also signing from a top 6 Italian side compared to a Greek side.
no, I meant high in comparison to what we have received for Akpom

Based just on his career stats and age, looks to me that we are paying a top heavy fee. That's if it is the reported £4m, we'll never know cos Boro don't want to disclose trandferr fees. Never played a competitive game for Atlanta, 8 loans, only 1 to a top level league, not sure the strength of the swiss league, but probably slightly lower level than the championship at best. 142 appearances = 28 goals, half them coming in his last loan spell. Could be were catching on the up, or he just had an exceptional season, time will tell. Wouldn't judge anything on youtube clips, it's all about level.
So I'm just checking who scored around 14 goals (forwards and similar age) in the swiss league in the last couple of years:
- Zeki Amdouni, just moved to Burnley for 19m euro. 12 goals in each of the last 2 seasons in Swiss Superleague. Price-wise Latte Lath seems favourable.
- Wilfried Kanga, currently rated at about 5m euro after a poor season in the bundesliga last year, but I'd take a backup bundesliga striker
- Arthur Cabral, scored 12 goals in swiss league got 15m move to Fiorentina then a 20m move to Benfica. I'd take someone that level
- Grejohn Kyei, scored 12 a few years ago, 10 goals in french top league last year, again 10 in the French top league is akin to 15+ in the championship
- Jordan Siebatcheu, scored 12 goals 3 years ago, moved to union berlin for 6m euros, but had a tough first season.

That's what level we should expect I guess for someone that can score 14 or so goals in that league. It doesn't tend to have many players scoring 20+ so probably quite a defensively strong league. I think it's probably decent tactically for them to punch above their weight in the euro competitions too.

This could backfire but a potential somg/chant for latte lath when he signs and bangs a few in the net (hopefully)...based on classic song 'live is life'

Only got chorus in my head at the mo but other lyrics could be tweaked.

Maybe some rhythmic clapping for intro and theough whole chant. Then sing

Lah-tay lath!!
La la la la la...lah-tay lath!...la la la la la
Emanuel lah-tay lath!!....la la la la la

Lah-taaay lath!!
(Possibly repeat again from verse 2)

*lah-tay lath= my sing song version of latte-lath before anyone asks who lah-tay is

He looks pacy, direct, skillful and with the ability to beat players and..........most importantly...a natural goal scorer.

Not convinced by this, but I know nothing about him and nothing about the Swiss league other than watching a couple of his vids and the defending looks worse than the champo.

He seems to have some attributes though, and I would love to be proven wrong.

Law of averages says we're long overdue a top striker for a bargain fee, but that theory has banrupt loads of people playing roulette.

Each action is independent of the last, and based on the probability of the time and its variables.

Hey keep the faith, if I had told you chuba was going to go on and become top goalscorer and player of the year and we would sell for £10m + profit to Ajax you would of thought I meed locking up, anything is possible if attitude amd application is right and the talent is there!

I've looked at the stats to find out how prolific he is BUT just as a CF since that's where we are looking at playing him. Stats below are CF and I've ignored his youth career (40 goals in 78 games largely on the wing).

My takings from the data:

1) went out on loan young as a CF, then started to play more on the wing, before going back to CF the last 2 years. I'm guessing he just wasn't physically strong enough until he was 22.

2) There is a clear progression at CF, went from rare minutes and few goals to being a first choice CF and goal scorer. His goals per minute have improved year on year.

3) 220mins a goal, for 40 games * 80mins works out at 15 goals. That's his career average and I'd hope he does better than that.

4) gets a few yellows, goes with the territory of working hard closing down defenders.
