No, the 90 days in 180 is based on them having funds.I don't know their situation and if they have proof of funds maybe they can stay longer.
I was tongue in cheek insofar as by Xmas we will probably in a trade war with the EU and the TCA and any other agreements will probably have been binned.
It's not dependent on any trade deal. It's just the standard time allowed for non-EU citizens to stay there.
