Last game of season. Date change?

I know it’s a long way off but surely there’s no chance of last games being played same day as coronation. EFL must know the score but no press release.
I think it’ll be moved to the Sunday.
Thoughts?

Well they can’t use the respect line for cancelling… he hasn’t died, so if they are going to cancel it’s purely as a reaction to needing more policing in London and drawing from local forces

I'm thinking it might be the Sunday purely for policing concerns etc but as it's a fixed event they really should make the decision now and not 10 days before.
Millwall are due to be at home and as the entire Met police dog and horse section like to attend that fixture, it has to be moved!

It wouldn’t bother me if boro played on Saturday. I just think they will move it.

I don’t know if Charlie reads this but if he does…..your welcome to do the ceremony in the south stand concourse at half time. We can’t do it on the pitch as the kids are taking penna’s.

He could always play the "identify the player" spot.

Here are the Championship fixtures for that day, it's the one round of fixtures you can usually guarantee well in advance what the date and time is so arranging travel and accommodation is better than normal.

Saturday 6th May 2023
3pm Birmingham City v Sheffield United
3pm Burnley v Cardiff City
3pm Huddersfield Town v Reading
3pm Luton Town v Hull City
3pm Middlesbrough v Coventry City
3pm Millwall v Blackburn Rovers
3pm Norwich City v Blackpool
3pm Preston North End v Sunderland
3pm Queens Park Rangers v Bristol City
3pm Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion
3pm Watford v Stoke City
3pm Wigan Athletic v Rotherham United

There is 3 London fixtures there including Watford and think the Premiership has 3 London fixtures provisionally for that Saturday, you just know they are going to change but when will be the announcement?

I hope they do move it, it's a needless hassle when there's bound to be a lot of policing needed with dignitaries and heads of states, but worst case scenario and I'll watch the coronation on catch up.

No self-respecting football supporter would miss a game to see a crowning, surely?

Maybe the prawn-sandwich brigade will have a choice to make but everyone else can just get on with it.

Of course not but if they are going to change the earlier the better. I can't see any way they will play them that day.

EFL have an offcial supporters charter contact email and Ive emailed to ask them to announce asap. Can but hope.

It's a three-day weekend and I don't really care which of those days they pick, as long as they make a decision and don't let it drag out for months.

There was never any chance of these games being 3pm Sat even without a coronation. TV blackout of 3pm Sat games still exists and as all have to be played at same time sky will want them moving so it can have its promotion deciders on TV

Good point. Shouldn't be on at the same time as rest of league programme.

Sunday 12.30 seems to have been a favourite time and date for last games in Championship before. Not ideal for away fans if having to travel far, does help with the Monday now being an additional Bank Holiday though. Just hope we’re involved at top end of the table battle 🤞

Reply I have just received from EFL regarding date etc.

Plans for the final day of the season are yet to be confirmed. We await further guidance from the DCMS and discussions will need to take place with all relevant stakeholders, including broadcasters.
We will of course endeavour to confirm final day fixture dates as soon as reasonably possible, in order to allow supporters to make necessary plans.

I had to look up up who DCMS are and it's the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport ( I think! )
