Last Boro player to top the division

For goals scored, was having a think about it with akpom the likely championship top scorer come may.
can't come up with one in the last 50 years?

It's actually quite nice having a Boro player top the charts, and being in and around the conversation for league player/young player/goalscorer/most assists etc

Kompany has Manager of the year sewn up, but i reckon 2nd will go to Carrick/Heckingbottom...

I think Jan Aage Fjortoft might of when we went up in 94/95 - the majority of his goals were for Swindon though, although technically he topped the charts as a boro player as per the post....

Chuba needs 2 more to be our top league scorer in a season since Cloughie (over 60 years ago).
Nope. John O’Rourke got 27 in 66/67 and Alan Peacock got 31 in 62/63.

The way chuba is playing he might still challenge peacock and meet your claim above. Needs 7 goals in 8 games

Did Slaven never do it?
Or Paul Wilkinson?
I had a look at Slaven last week after Akpom broke the 20 goal mark. If I am right it reads like this:

In 1986/87 - Andy Jones scored 27 Port Vale - Slaven got 17
In 1987/88 - David Currie scored 28 Barnsley - Slaven got 21
In 1989/90 - Micky Quinn scored 32 Newcastle -Slaven got 21

Surely we can claim Currie though:ROFLMAO:

Also Slaven scored 15 top flight goals in 88-89 which is some record, with only Ravenelli with his 16 beating that in recent years - also in a relegated team:(

Slaven got 21 twice (87-88 Mark Bright got 25 for Palace, 89-90 Fatty Quinn got 32 for Newcastle)

Wilko was never anywhere near top scorer in the league.
His best seasons were 91-92, Lennie's promotion season and he got 15 league goals, (Slaven got 16 that season.David Speedie got 23 for Blackburn that season)
He got 15 in 2 other seasons including PL in 92-93 and second tier in 93-94.

Hickton did indeed top the charts for those 3 seasons mentioned above, his highest being 25.
Chuba will go past that this season.

Clough topped the second tier charts in 58-59 with 43 and 59-60 with 39.
He got 38 in 56-57, 40 in 57-58, 34 in 60-61, yet got pipped to top scorer in those 3 seasons.
Overall remarkable record and player. He was less prolific in his short spell at Sunderland.

Camsell only actually topped the scoring charts in any division in 26-27 with that 59 goal Div 2 haul.
Fenton scored loads of goals too, but didn't ever top score.
Both these lads in fairness played their football in the top flight for us.

So overall 3 Boro players combined have topped the second tier charts 6 times. Hickton 3, Clough 2 and Camsell 1.

Only Andy Wilson has top scored in the top flight for us in 1921-22 with 31 league goals.

He only got 18 in total, 15 for swindon and 3 for Boro, John McGinley got 25 for Bolton that season. He did get 9 goals in the league cup that year for Swindon so that might have thrown you.
