I like the look of him in the role he does and he keeps us informed with the positive feedback from behind the scenes.I think in a couple of years we will see his progress paying of .For all Gibson's faults he pulled a master stroke with this and Carrick appointment and bringing back woodgate will be brilliant for the likes of fry etc .The new coach seems to have a decent CV so things are starting to look up .

I think a key thing is it sounds like everyone is finally pulling in the same direction. Felt like Warnock and Wilder were often at odds with other parts of the club.

Hopefully it's the right direction, but it feels like it and is certainly a good start.

At least he opened it though...isn't that what we've all be crying out for?
you can't win with communication from the board, anything is open to be taken out of context and when they talk can also be put down as telling us nothing, which in reality is all they are ever going to tell people is what we already know. They not going to out club secrets publicly if it does not benefit the club, but some people just crave this constant communication, when in reality all you can get is the clubs official line and lip service

I think the problem when you're chairmen or anybody high up speak you get a 'smash the league' comment and the fans use it with a stick to beat you with for years to come. Let's be honest If monk had put the correct team together
Randolph
Fabio Ayala Gibson Friend
Clayton Leadbitter
Adama Braithwaite Bamford
Assombalonga

That should smash the league, he wasn't wrong

Time will tell. So far he's made 2 big decisions. Wilder was a massive mistake, not because I thought he was a bad manager (that happens) but because he wasn't aligned with the strategy the club wanted which seems to be one of developing players. Carrick's appointment is looking much more promising. Recruitment has continued to be shocking since Scott came in as well so if that is under his remit then he's not doing great. We've got a first team full of loan players which is at odds with a strategy of development because we're developing other teams players ahead of our own. Even if he's not in charge of recruiting individual players the strategy of loaning players instead of buying/developing from within will be under his control.

That's because they've not been good enough, which is even worse because we'll paying 1st team wages for them. Steffen, Giles, Muniz and Mowatt will all be on big money.

Our best players this season have been Howson who we have tried and failed to replace and only managed to get another contract signed in the close season, Akpom who we have tried and failed to get rid of and Hackney who definitely wasn't in the 1st team plans at the start of the season.

Hardly a ringing endorsement for the recruitment strategy is it?

how do you know what wages we are paying them? your just guessing

Loans are there as We don't have the money to add everything we need in one go, so bring in a few players on loan to fill gaps whilst going dow the youth strategy.

The problem was the young signings weren't being played, and now they are.

Loans are fine as long as they don't block a pathway for a young player, and add the depth/quality you need.

But obviously getting those quality loans is the hard part.

Steffen is blocking Roberts and any of the other young keepers, Mowatt blocking Hackney or Boyd Munce, Muniz blocking Forss, Hoppe or Coburn. Giles is the only one where we had no other option. Mowatt was rubbish and Hackney has got the chance anyway and taken it. The others we are developing other clubs players.

Loans are fine but they should be used to complete a squad or fill a gap that has a chance of promotion or to avoid relegation. They shouldn't be used if you're pursuing a development strategy.

I agree. And I think under wilder Muniz was, under wilder mowatt was. Maybe that was the issue the club had among others?

Carrick seems to be prioritising correctly and how the club would like. Forss, hoppe, hackney all much more involved since wilders departure.

Maybe this suggests it's how the club intended the loans to be, but wilder used them in the wrong way.
