Kieran Scott on your radio tonight

Bit of a coincidence that I suggested us signing Jhon Durán & Tim Iroegbunam yesterday and today he’s coming out spilling the beans saying everything tied up..

More desperate than Nobby that lad! Jeez!

He felt Boro fans had seen some great players at the Riverside and this meant their expectations were higher than at some other clubs. He did not think this was wrong, but the bar was high at the Boro for scouts and recruitment.
That's a good point actually

Sometimes we forget we were a bit spoilt in the Robbo and Smac days. For example Norwich fans have never had a Juninho or Boksic or Viduka or Southgate (the player)

Scott more impressed with Boro away support then he expected before he came - he mentioned 6k to 7k at Preston in 2022. He said the team and managment let them down that day.

Sounded a bit disappointed that Wilder did not play Balogun more i.e he would have developed more if played more.
Managed to get a couple of digs at Wilder in there.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. I think he sounded much more relaxed and insightful than when he spoke last, which as was said was around a year ago. I liked the clarity. They’re building a squad to develop over time. I think there’s real cause for optimism but I’ve felt that all along to be honest. Since about 1990.

Two big windows coming up for him/us I suppose.

Sounds like we're going after another striker, which is good.

You'd presume we'll definitely be replacing Howson and McNair in the squad by this summer?

O'Brien isn't ours and Hackney could well be sold to finance the club.

Added to the uncertainty around Clarke ever fully recovering, the possibility of Smith not reaching the same heights when he's back and the likelihood Dijksteel will still be unfancied that's quite a rebuild.

That could mean a starting CB, two starting CM's and a starting RB by summer, plus a couple of squad/rotation options. Along with a striker in January.

I do think we seem to be conducting ourselves in the right way, we seem to have direction and a plan and not just a scattergun approach. My biggest concern is Carrick leaving and the impact on the plan and strategy...

Devante Cole at Barnsley is definitely a stinker we are looking at.....

PS I did notice the spelling mistake but thought I would leave it as is 👍

Can’t see us going for Devante Cole , if we do go for an older striker Lawrence Shankland would fit the bill , both age 28 .
A poacher is required to feed off Coburn .

I think that's where the value of having a DofF is realised the most, because Scott will appoint a manager that will be a good fit for the strategy the club now has.

We all want carrick to stay as long as possible of course, but arguably Scott is more important in terms of delivering the longer term success that the club wants.
