Kidney Stones

Good luck, Randy. Along with gout one of the most painful conditions I endured. You’ll feel so much better
The painkillers prescribed by the hospital last week when I was in A+E have helped. No pain at the moment. But last Monday night I've never experienced pain like it, my brain completely switched off, couldn't concentrate and nearly passed out from the pain. An ambulance ride, two bottles of gas and air and a healthy dose of liquid morphine and I was away with the fairies. 🤣

I can imagine what you went through Randy….
Suffered an attack a few years back. Pain was excruciating!! Was driven from doctors office to a busy Emerg where I kept screaming as loud as I could. Triage jumped me front of queue (to shut me up) and delivered the instant jab of morphine relief.

Good luck Randy, I had kidney stones about 8 years ago with multiple bouts of intense pain over 6 months before they diagnosed the problem. The pain was intense and had a operation to remove them. Since then I drink loads of water as that was part of the problem which helped develop my Stones.
The Worst part of the whole saga was getting the stent removed by 2 young ladies 7 days after the operation ( it was a cold day)

Got seen to fairly quickly. Been admitted. Surgeon consult, suggested stent or removal of stone (7mm). Told them to take it out so operation booked for tomorrow morning.

Thank the lord I remembered to bring my phone charger with me.

I had a small one and can concur it’s the worst pain I’d ever experienced,..
almost passed out at work, nissan…. but pain eased so drove home only for it to keep happening, what a drive home…
went to hospital eventually and he pressed my stomach and I threw up instantly…
stayed in hospital one day and the 3 other patients on my ward were enough to make me endure the pain at home on codine…
passed it 4 days later which was fairly uneventful…

I have just come back from a friends funeral who had passed away from acute pancreatitis- his gallstones moved into his liver then sepsis got hold and that was it.
53 years old and her had been waiting on an op for his gallstones for months
It’s not right and it was so sad

I know we don't always see eye to eye but best of luck here Randy. My dad had kidney stones and they were the only medical thing he had that put him off his food. Made me very scared of them. They look brutal. Get well soon

Best of luck Randy. I've never suffered from them and hope I never will. I trust you have some good music to keep your chin up.

The kicker been I left my headphones at home as I didn't expect to be kept in overnight and operated on first thing in the morning.

I and everyone else I've spoken to who actually passed a kidney stone, woke up on the bathroom floor after passing out from the pain.

I didn't. After a night's agony the GP gave me some pills which made me **** like a horse. Did the job. Depends on the size of your stones, mind.

So a surprising update. Turns out the kidney stone is no longer in my body. The consultant showed me two CT scans, one from two weeks ago when I was diagnosed and the other from today. There was a stone and now there isn't. He believes the pressure caused by the backlog has broken the stone into smaller pieces and because of the painkillers I've been taking, I wouldn't have noticed them passing.

So all in all a great result. No op required and I've been discharged home.

Also to add, the same day emergency outpatient department at James Cook were superb as were the two urology consultants I spoke to. Clear, concise and very informative.

I had them too, right in the middle of the Covid outbreak having had it once before when I was in my early 20's. Yes the pain is unbearable and was relieved to receive the morphine.

Same happened to me ages ago.
Had to stop eating hard cheese, soft ie mozzarella doesn't seem to cause it.
Drink plenty of water especially in summer I was told.

I'm due to have my gallbladder out, the op has been cancelled three times, moved to the Friarage and cancelled once. The agony at times is unbelievable, like Randy i've been rushed to james cook, liquid morphine and laid out in a&e for hours just spaced out. I want it out asap. Pain sits at a steady 5/10 24/7 but then all of a sudden it just hits a 10 and its unreal. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, well, a few people maybe.

The liquid morphine was excellent I must agree.
I've not taken any painkillers today and no pain which is a relief. Not that I didn't believe the urologist or anything but it's a massive relief.

Haven't had a drop of alcohol in three weeks. With the temperatures rising again this weekend I'll be looking forward to a crisp, refreshing pint after work the next four nights.
