Kicking off at Middlesbrough Council

He did play an active role in Northern School of Art new site. Hartlepool wanted the School of Art - Andy Preston worked closely with them as the previous Labour administration had with their vision of opening that part of the town up to the college and arts and sound hubs etc.
Yes but what did he or the council do that ended up with it being built there? Worked closely in what way, what persuaded the Northern School of Art to decide to come to Middlesbrough instead of Hartlepool?

As far as I can see the council sold a bit of land to someone that allowed the building to go ahead?

There were negotiations between the council and the Art college held over many years. From before Andy Preston. They wanted the college not just to stay in Middlesbrough but to help regenerate the town centre. So they will definitely have worked together through the whole process.

Cheers Rob - I get that but still no idea of what it is that Andy Preston and/or MBC did that allows him to claim credit for building of the building.

It looks like student union politics to me - the fact the letter has been 'leaked' so quickly undermines the the allegations.

The allegations are so broad that its bordering on the ridiculous.

That letter can't be genuine. I've never seen such a dreadful attempt at writing a something, which if genuine, would be a damning indictment of someone in public office.

It is mate. Unless Antony High has also had his FB page hacked 😯

The allegations listed are mostly already in the public domain so there's probably more to come. They've become aware of something that will finish Preston off, so are now attempting to save their own credibility.

Shouldn’t you be asking the mayor this? Unless Rob is his PR or closely connected with him.
Afraid I don't have close contact with Mr Preston and he doesn't respond to any questions on social media.

Rob commented on the close relationship and of working together between AP and the School of Norther Art so It seems Rob knows more than me so I'm just trying to learn a bit more - is that ok?

You can fool all of the people some of the time and you can fool some of the people all of the time, which gives a decent window of opportunity to rob the people blind and get out before anyone can do anything about it.

He is clearly just another dodgy Tory spiv like all the rest.

A small positive perhaps but several times I have been litter picking with Community Champions on a Sunday and Andy works away from start to finish filling his bags full of litter. It isn't a pose etc ie he gets stuck in to things and is prepared to actually graft for the town.
He comes across to me as somebody who means well for the area and he puts his head up above the parapet to try to make things better but any politician has to be whiter than white with public funds because it’s taxpayers money.

I’m not saying he is guilty, I have no idea, but to maintain credibility he will have to clear his name with regard to these allegations.

Lots of people criticising him on social media and on here. Personally none of this has changed my opinion that he wants the best for Middlesbrough and isn’t in it for personal gain.
Most politicians are, but he strikes me as someone who isn’t. Maybe I’m wrong but what he’s doing in the Mayor role is far better than any party affiliated people of the past.
Middlesbrough has always been a gravy train for Labour and he’s trying to change that, and getting results from what I can see.
