Keir Starmer giving Johnson another tough time at PMQ’s

Finally we have a proper leader of the opposition who deal in the possible not the probable who lives in the world that is not the world that might be.

Starmer is a total greasy knob
Wonder what made you form that opinion? I saw a reasonable, measured man, slowly and methodically dissecting a blustering, lacking in substance prime minister. So completely in fact that the PM had to outright lie to the house in response. Which Starmer again picked up on.

Just a little hint for Boris: if a lawyer asks you about a specific detail, of a specific document, for a specific date, it’s because they know for a fact this exists, or they would be vague. If you had known that, you might have not been so quick to lie to the House.

Showing Johnson up for the clown he is.

It's a shame that we'll probably have 5 more years of him anyway, unless the Tories get rid themselves.

The rule in cross examination is never ask a question you don't know the answer to. Which sounds a bit counter intuitive, I know. I read too many legal thrillers.

As long as Starmer embraces a very socially democratic stance then I'll be happy to have him leading the Labour party.
There are so many beneficial policy options that have been revealed by this pandemic that he should be able to walk an election. Before the pandemic it was easy to say "how will we pay for it?" when anything socially democratic was proposed. Now it's possible to say "this is why we should pay for it".

The most important thing that Starmer will do in the coming weeks will be to deal with the party members who actively undermined Corbyn.

The way he performs on that issue will be the yardstick.

Funny how anti semitism has disappeared as a labour problem now.

The total greasy knob comment above shows why Labour always have to climb a mountain to get into power, there are millions out there who would support the Tories with blind brainwashed loyalty no matter which clown is leading them at a particular time.

The Starmer approach to destroying Johnson with his own information and quotes is totally brutal, no wonder it’s annoying the blue brigade.

Great to see as well, it’s time this incompetent shower were held properly to account.

100% this. On Facebook you still see everyone going on about Starmer letting Jimmy Saville off the hook etc, they would literally support Stalin.

Starmer is performing reasonably well, but as per usual with lawyers he is being economical with the facts and information himself, and taking some things out of context. His letter was very quickly replied to, and it's another opportunity lost.

It's good to see an opposition leader who will at least attempt to take on the Tories, only issue for me though is he is not doing enough right now, he needs a significant hit or two since these minor skirmishes don't mean a thing. It would be good if instead of focusing on relatively small point scoring they can come up with some good alternatives to the Tory failures, show that they are a real alternative and not basically a protest group.

Starmer does need to be very careful too. Once this "unity politics" that the Tories claim to be following is over they have a lot of muck to throw at Labour and Starmer personally.

*edited to say Starmer does, instead of Starmer dies :censored:

An interesting point of view, and one which seems to be at odds with the general consensus. And not just by the ‘lefty clique’ on here, but the wider political fraternity and media, including many of the right leaning publications and journalists.

Why should they come up with an alternative. All that does is allow the opposition to deflect from what they are doing. Well labour want to do this so this would mean......(insert unfounded reason or lie)

It’s about holding the government to account when mistakes have been made, which Starmer has got a grasp of.

For what it’s worth, labour have said more testing is needed, more clarity amongst others. So they are offering alternatives

It’s a bit early to say ‘opportunity lost’.
Starmer has yet to declare his hand. Johnson’s response is widely seen as a further incorrect interpretation.
At some stage there will be a public inquiry and this kind of poor advice that, lets face it, killed people will be poured over.

Responding to a few things here, so apologies if it jumps about a bit -

I live overseas, so I take my news from a variety of different sources, I avoid the UK MSM as much as I can though because in my opinion they are severely compromised, and have lost sight of what they should be hoping to achieve and provide.

No question that he has to hold them to account, but in my opinion though they have to do more.

Labour have to demonstrate they can govern, since there are very big question marks they can't. Also, the tried and tested way has not worked for Labour in the last few elections and the common consensus is they will struggle in the next GE too, I would suggest they need to think outside the box. Corbyn attempted something along these lines with his work on the alternative to the Brexit deal.

It's ok saying someone or something is not working, a blind man on a galloping horse can see that, unless you come up with an alternative then you basically have nothing to offer.
