That’s the thing. I don’t think anybody was arsed. I don’t think I’ve ever read an article on the Royals before, but it caught my attention because as 1finny says, there was lots of creativity and funny stuff. Some people on here really need to lighten up a bit though. Nobody wished ill health in anyone.

I have to say, having read some of your posts on this thread, that you do seem to have quite a polarised view on all this.

The Royals are by their very definition deliberately conspicuous in public life, so speculation was always likely when KM was admitted to hospital, for what was clearly a relatively serious condition.

A lack of information will always be filled with rumour and speculation.

And the manufacturered image of her on mother's day was very much a PR own goal and only heightened the ongoing speculation.

The other stuff, such as the future Kings rumoured afairs, may or may not be true, but the outlet that first published the story wasn't issued with an induction, or sued, so that leads me to suspect it may be more than just rumours.

Ultimately it's an issue that's clouded by peoples view of the monarchy, but taking the view that anything that's not released by the palace PR teams is a 'conspiracy theory' is a bit naive really.

I’m wondering if it’s ovarian cancer?, My wifehad a major scare 3 years ago, she had them removed (which was a major operation) they were then sent for testing, the cysts were found to be non cancerous.

There is a big difference between not working and not being seen. As people say, she is a human. She does do normal stuff at times and is seen doing it regularly (like the farm shop visit). Nobody would have mentioned anything if she had stopped working but was seen doing her normal stuff but it was that disappearance from the public altogether that started the questions.

You would expect no appearances for a few weeks after surgery but several months isn't usual hence the speculation.

Everything that you’ve said resounds with me. I’ve never been bitter about it, but you are right, stealing a bit of your soul is a very good way to put it. The pain is unimaginable until it happens to someone that you love, I’d have done anything to stop the pain that she went through, but I couldn’t and I felt like an absolute failure.

Covid really didn’t help…imagine lying in a hospital bed aware that you are probably going to die and not being able to see friends or family…that was the reality for Sue. They used to sneak me in on a Sunday afternoon when fewer people were working, it still feels incredibly surreal. I’m a republican but I hope that Kate and William don’t have to go through what we have both been through.

They'd released a statement to say that she wouldn't be able to partake in royal duties until after Easter, and that should have just been respected.

It's not so much about it being handled poorly. Prince Andrew's PR was handled poorly. This was a disaster.

The semi-jokey speculation that presumably inspired this thread was in full swing and all that was required was a statement to say that the PoW had undergone surgery and that had brought to light other concerns which were being followed-up. In light of the King's recent health issues they could have very easily portrayed this as just being overly cautious while the family was undergoing a stressful period.

That wouldn't have stopped the infidelity rumours, but they've been around for a few years now.

The photo was the bigger problem. It wasn't released to prove she was alive - that's utter nonsense. As soon as it was pulled they should have made a proper anouncement - the idea that the kids needed to be shielded from the news being public makes no sense as they were obviously not being shielded from the rumours (unless they were in which case they would have also been shielded from any other news).

This whole saga is entirely the fault of the royal PR machine. Trying to turn it round to suggest people somehow knew there was something more serious going on and should have kept quiet is absurd. The fact people thought something more serious was going on is literally why the speculation started in the first place.

They spend their time planting royalist propaganda in the media to make believe they are still relevant in order to keep the gravy train going. It is of no interest or public import when one of them drops a new sprog or attends a pretend mediaeval event dressed as Eleanor of Aquitaine. The entire clown show needs to be gone.

The one thing i don’t understand about this press release is why she’s sat there on her own - if my wife was going through something like that I’d be right there with her supporting her. It’s almost as if she’s saying here i am, and I’m going through this on my own.

‘The semi-jokey speculation‘ as mentioned a few posts up - look at X / twitter, there are thousands who genuinely think she’s been murdered and that vid release was all AI.

It’s frightening how many are now lost from reality.
