I might as well stop doing this now then I suppose??? Was getting right on the wife’s nerves and she was really coming round to getting an electric car but fine, if you say I’m wasting my time…..You don't get it, do you? There's no point in having a protest if nobody notices it. You want maximum publicity to raise awareness for your cause. Glueing yourself to your own driveway or throwing powder around in your own house isn't going to achieve that.
Anyone skint .. wasn't at twickers this weekendSo finances are tight but you support protestors (who are being paid to do this) stopping people from getting to work who have serious money worries, and can also do absolutely nothing to stop climate change
Just imagine how devastating it must be to be completely skint yet having to miss work because of these protestors. It’s not something I could ever support regardless of their cause
If you lived or travelled through London and had to deal with this, you would realise how much they are actually making people suffer
It’s funny isn’t it, they stopped a shell agm meeting but you didn’t hear anything. If they want to protest for what the believe in, and want to be heard it seems they have to be extreme in what they do
People are talking about them, and if they get more people to join them they’ll disrupt even more until a point the influence change. So how does ruining a sporting event for 61000 people or, especially or, destroying a garden help? Disrupt oil tankers, or shell executives, or the politicians who deny climate change.. annoying everyone isn't helping their cause.
Be thankful that you can take the financial hit, because many can’t at the moment and a few lost hours will be devastating.
Just because you wouldn’t suffer with missing work doesn’t mean that others won’t
Government haven’t achieved anything with me. Realistically what do you think is the outcome during a COL crisis when people are loosing hours at work due to protestors blocking the roads. You don’t need the government to tell you that’s going to be devastating for some people. If you can’t see that and accept it’s a problem then you are seriously out of touch with the issues working class people faceSounds like the government have achieved their aims with you.
’devastating…..causing inconvenience …. Missing work…thousands suffering…missing school’
Lots of minister’s sound bites there.
I’ll bow to your knowledge of the protesters at the Rugby. You clearly know them well to describe them as being privileged and being paid.
I don’t know them at all so can’t comment on their social status (not that it should matter) or motives.
And - I love the fact you are quoting the government‘s protest legislation as a stick to beat them with.
Using this givernment’s response to argue a case? FFS - a new low.
Presumably you are anti strikes and anti refugees as well? because…. guess what, the government wants to ban them.

Plenty of threads on here outraged at the poor conditions those at the bottom currently face in the uk, yet the same people are cheering on protests that actively make things worse for those at the bottom
Also not sure how you have interpreted me saying protests shouldn’t stop ordinary people getting to work, make me anti refugee. That’s such a bizarre take
Is it a sportOr maybe they’ll just be annoyed that the hypocrites are trying to ruin another sporting occasion?
I do get it yes. I’ve argued before about disruptive protests. I just think JSO are being hypocritical and not in any way disrupting the right people. You don't get it, do you? If the appointment is at a hospital. This may be an incorrect statement.I think that you're confusing being mildly inconvenienced with suffering mate. I could tell you all about what real suffering is and it isn't being slightly late for an appointment.
It’s not that expensive. Domestic rugby as way cheaper than international rugbyMust say, I never thought those at the bottom would be forking out to attend such a high profile rugger match. Still, you live and learn ...
That sounds, and I hope I’m wrong, like reverse snobbery and people being happy because it was a rugby game. I Hope I’ve got you wrong but this site normally has this type of comment'Suffer'. Seriously? Did Smalltown 'suffer' because a nasty man briefly ruined his enjoyment of a crappy eggball game?
Ah, I knew they would be some misguided reverse snobbery when rugby gets a mention. It’s sad that some people stoop to that. Makes thread like this worse because you don’t know if people defending them are true environmentalists or just people who want to abuse “posh” peopleAre all of their demos aimed at annoying Tory w@nkers or just this one?
I would say this weeks protests would get fewer people to join them, that’s my argument: destroying a garden? And interrupting a match where the majority of the crowd would be well aware of environmental concerns?People are talking about them, and if they get more people to join them they’ll disrupt even more until a point the influence change.
They’ve disrupted shell agm meeting and it got almost zero coverage. Government policy change is the only way to influence big business
