Thanks for the link, will look into some of those. Have a night planned in Bergen next year on the way back from Trondheim beer and food festival.

Never witnessed anything like that and we both felt totally safe. I do always keep my wallet and bag close though as you just never know.

Glad to hear you never had any of the problems I mentioned. It was about 10 years ago so maybe things have change. I like you felt safe there it was only a couple of people wander away from main group worse for wear that had issues.

You will get that in any major cities. In fact in Riga my late friend was robbed by the police and dropped in a field out of town. The also picked up the lad I was sharing a room with when he was walking back to hotel. They took him to the room with a hotel staff member and told him to open the safe to check his passport. Even though he was drunk he had the sense to say that I had set the password and he did not know it. All my money was in the safe. Apparently it's rare but not uncommon to be robbed by police in Riga.
