Have a read through this and make sure you get what you’re entitled to. They’re legally required to have 45 days consultation before any dismissals if they’re making over 100 people redundant.

I’m currently a procurement administrator but previously the 2 roles before that I’ve been an assistant buyer. Very similar roles to be fair

Really sorry to hear that v_a_n.

If it's any consolation redundancy has happened to me twice (but went through the "correct process" both times) and I've also had my contract cancelled twice......and every time I've come out of it in a better place.

It's sh*t, but keep your head up that's the most important bit of advice I can give 👍
 
Sorry to hear that Viv, doesn’t surprise me one bit that Richard Cranium Ashley is involved. He is a **** of the first order.

Genuinely sorry to hear this.
What I will say is that good communication skills, especially writing skills, are always in demand. Copywriters/editors, proof readers ... all needed.
Internal comms, external, website copy .... when it's bad, it really lets companies down. And they know it.
I hope you get something quickly.

Same happened to me nearly 3 years ago...came completely out of the blue. However I'm now in a better job...better hours, better pay etc. Onwards and upwards!!
 
Bad news for a Friday, but all states are temporary! If I was to be made redundant from my job today I'd actually just be glad I can draw a line under a load of nonsense and unsatisfying work. the panic would set in after the weekend...!
 
Sorry to hear about your situation VAN, thats not a good way to bring someone's employment to an end regardless of the circumstances. Sounds like you really wouldn't want to work for them anyway if that is how they treat people, hopefully some else will be available for you soon.
 
I'm sorry to hear this, Viv. As has been said, you will turn this around, although I know this won't help with immediate fears. Hopefully it won't take too long to update your CV. I'm sure you'll start to feel much better once you have sent off your first job application. The feeling of being in control again. All the best.

It was yeah. To be honest a few of us had sensed it as soon as Ashley bought us out. It was presented as a bright new dawn at the time but he’s either funding the revival or asset-stripping it isn’t he. I don’t think there’s much messing about with him. Just absolutely brutal in the way it’s been handled. I spoke with our creative director today and he had no idea about this until early yesterday evening. I believe him.
 
Thanks for all the messages and warm regards, it’s been very comforting reading through those across the afternoon. I think a lot of my team are very shocked, upset, angry, as you would expect but I’m sure we’ll all come back stronger in the coming weeks. It’s part and parcel of retail isn’t it.
