COVID update

Dear Mr ....................
I am writing to inform you that, as is the situation nationally, we have started to see an increase in the number of students and staff testing positive with COVID-19. As it stands the rate of increase is not overly concerning but we are closely monitoring the rates to determine if further action needs to be taken, in line with Public Health advice.
Can we take this opportunity to remind all parents/carers of the following information:
What to do if your child develops symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or tests positive for COVID-19.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:
• new continuous cough and/or
• high temperature and/or
• a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
If your child does develop symptoms, they should get a PCR test and remain at home at least until the result is known. The result should then be reported to school as soon as possible.
Students and staff with COVID-19 should not attend their education setting while they are infectious. They should take an LFD test from 5 days after their symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms) followed by another one the next day. If both of these test results are negative, they should return to their educational setting, as long as they feel well enough to do so and do not have a temperature.
We really have to rely on the support of parents/carers in keeping their child off school if they do display symptoms and to arrange a PCR test to confirm if they are positive. By doing this we proactively reduce transmission in school and minimise the impact on the wider school community.
We do have a number of staff currently unable to attend work due to COVID-19. In addition to this, supply agencies are finding it increasingly challenging to source supply teachers due to local infection rates. We are doing everything we can to avoid further disruption to children’s face to face education but we hope you understand the challenges we are sadly facing once again.
Once again, thank you for your support in helping us mininise transmission within school,

Head Teacher

My school has been shut and doing online teaching since last Friday, 14 members of staff tested positive over the past week and about 8/10 kids from each class too.

Luckily it seems to be very mild symptoms.

Over the past fortnight had to work around two people I was supposed to be working with both ill with covid, both poorly in bed, high temperatures, feverish, flu symptoms lasting for several days - so far. Both under 40 years of age.

Definitely rising, down here, I am aware of 4 people locally all unconnected with each other with covid, one is really really poorly with it, 2 are feeling ill with cold/flu like symptoms, the other didn’t know he had it till he took an enforced weekly PCR test due to work environment. He is working from home but no symptoms at all 🤷‍♂️

My twenty two year old Granddaughter went down with it yesterday,
very poorly and really bad pains in her back, She is a Hospital worker
and has worked through the last two years, so been lucky up to now,

It's a strange one. 7 out of my immediate family have had it in the last 2 weeks. 2 very poorly the rest a headache. We had to stop my Mother in Law, 87, who has it getting on a bus to town to go shopping.

My parents and I have it. I've had mostly a snotty nose, headache and a sore throat with mild cough. Both my parents have pretty bad coughs. Keeping an eye on their SpO2 numbers with a pulse oximeter. It's prevalent at work as well, quite a few people off and even younger ones are having bad symptoms.

Absolutely rampant round me. More cases among people I know than at any time since the pandemic started. The good news is that they are all very mild.

I've got a new persistent cough. I'm testing every day and coming out negative, but it shows how lax I've become that I'm not particularly bothered either way (although I'm isolating anyway, if only because I wouldn't want to share a nasty cold).

If you can get a PCR, might be an idea. My mum had symptoms but kept getting negative LFT results. Went for a PCR on Sunday and they confirmed a positive.

Positive LFT 2 days ago and confirmed with PCR yesterday. Sore throat and a cough.
Aunt and her boyfriend have it too. We've not had any contact.
