They were a band of wandering minstrels with a lot of changes over 50 years! Iain Mathew was also on the first album and went on to form Matthews Southern comfort. Richard Thompson recorded with Linda Thompson and then on his own. Ashley Hutchings was a talented guitarist who went on to Steeleye Span. Trevor Lucas (Eclection) joined then left having married Sandy Denny (both have since died). They initially formed Fotheringhay.Yep. I looked it up. I only remembered Sandy Denny.
If I remember rightly a couple of the other band members backed Chris Rea at one point.

That I didn't know! My favourite Al Stewart album.Fairport Convention didn't back Chris Rea, but four of the group did play on Al Stewart's LP Love Chronicles under pseudonyms between Unhalfbricking and Liege and Lief.
RIP Julie

What I did not know at the time was how big a part drugs played in the lives of some of them.
