JSL - Celta Vigo

No I think people are still disappointed that £22.5m profit came in over the summer, our summer window was a shocker and we are a point above the relegation places.
Or the cracks were appearing with Gibson/Scott and Wilder, and Gibson didn't want a Monk #2 situation where he spaffs millions on average players on long contracts which drain the club for the next 3-4 years?

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I was disappointed we didn't manage to sign him, for reasons that should be obvious, but he's playing at a higher level I suppose and no signing is an exact science, even Messi and Ronaldo's last moves have been mixed and they're two of the best ever to play the game.

He might have no goals for Celta Vigo but everyone was right about our strikers not being good enough. When we were chasing him we were hoping for promotion not just to avoid relegation. Same as players like Gyokores, Riis and Piroe. They're clearly better than our current strikers despite scoring fewer goals than Akpom.

Best forward we were linked with in the summer and the only one worth spending serious money ob for me was the lad from Coventry, but tbf we were quoted nearly £20m and the lad himself would see it as a sideways move. We will probably have better long term value from Hoppe and Forss.

Good for him. Absolute madness that Wilder dropped him for Connelly when he just started scoring for us. Almost as if he didn't even want promotion last season.

He didn't.

They were both dropped against Fulham.

They then both started against Hull.

Connolly then started against Bournemouth and didn't start any of the remaining 5 games after that.

Balogun started against Cardiff after that.

It was Watmore, Coburn and Sporar that were starting ahead of Balogun after he scored his 3 goals, bar that one game against Bournemouth.
