*** Joshua vs Usyk 2 ***

Adam Smith from Sky said in an interview yesterday that ring walk will be between 10.15 and 10.45pm depending on how the undercard goes!

You'd have to fancy Usyk for the stoppage this time because Joshua will have to take more risks.

If you put things in perspective, Joshua gave the the probable pound for pound king a decent fight last time, so it doesn't make sense to be too harsh. He's fought everybody and chased the Wilder and Fury fights for several years. Neither Wilder or Fury would fight him. They were both offered huge money to do so, much more than they got for fighting each other.

It will be interesting to see what Usyk does if he wins. Inside boxing circles it's known that Fury turned down the Usyk fight and opted for Whyte instead. Fury probably doesn't want to go anywhere near Usyk unless he feels Usyk declines sufficiently to give him a chance. That's why Fury has apparently 'retired'. This way he doesn't have to meet his mandatories and can select fighters for a comeback when he spots vulnerability. But Usyk is probably too smart for that, he won't be hanging around forever. He's proven that he wants fights whilst both he and his opponents are at their peak.

Fury said Wider is the best and hardest fighter he has ever fought, so who has Joshua fought in their prime? a fat Ruiz, Parker, Povetkin an ageing Klitschko,
Had chances to fight Wilder and Fury but his management has avoided those fights.. he looks the part, but cannot take a punch, and well out of his league with proper fighters!!!

Wilder himself admitted he was offered more money to fight Joshua, than he was to fight Fury but turned it down. He literally said it himself!

Joshua - Fury negotiations were in an advanced stage before Fury withdrew to fight Wilder for a third time.

By all means say that you think Fury and/or Wilder would beat Joshua.

But it’s ridiculous to say that Joshua is scared to fight either of them.

Joshua has had more title fights that both of them put together. And he did it after significantly less fights than either Wilder or Fury did.

You can question his ability, but not his nuts.

Just to be clear, that doesn’t mean I’m saying that Fury and Wilder are scared to fight Joshua.

Inside boxing circles?? 🤣 🤣 🤣

Think everyman and his dog knew that!!

I never said scared, what I said was ,his management team have avoided them fights, and rightly so, they have made a lot of money. its the big big fights that make the boxer!! and Usyk is a real boxer as we will see tonight!!

Ok, I’m still not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion, when Wilder himself admitted he rejected an offer (more than he was offered to fight Fury) from Hearn.

Also seeing as Hearn was in fairly advanced negotiations with Fury until Fury withdrew to fight Wilder for the third time.

The one thing that can be said about Joshua and his team, is that they haven’t ducked people.

I’m saying despite what you think he is known as a choke merchant in the US.

The only fighter that never seems to fight.

Btw If he loses tonight and then what??

This unbeaten record Hearn did so much to protect is now in tatters 3 defeats inc a rematch is a career ender.

From the telegraph

There is little doubt that this is a career-defining contest for Joshua - a "woulda, shoulda, coulda" moment in his journey. Joshua, a physical behemoth, has the opportunity to dispel doubts about his mentality, hunger and ability at the elite level.

It also represents the chance to cast aside accusations that Joshua has become gun-shy since being defeated by Andy Ruiz in June 2019, when he was floored four times en route to a stoppage defeat in New York. Joshua avenged that loss in the Middle East six months later, boxing Ruiz behind the jab, winning on points but still leaving doubts about his desire to engage in exchanges of fistic firepower.

See even in this article they hint at hint him being gun shy.

AJ is a major underdog tonight, that may work in his favour. I expect him to to come out firing early doors to try and knock Usyk out. The longer the fight goes on however the less chance he has of winning.

He’s finished if he loses tonight.

Yeah I’m not saying he’s better than Uysk, Fury or Wilder.

Just can’t understand how anyone can question his willingness to face the other top fighters.

Not sure what you mean about “the only fighter that never seems to fight”.

He fought for a title after 16 fights, and every fight since (10 or 11 total fights) has been for a title fight.

Hearn has made offers to both Fury and Wilder. Not sure what else he can do.

Tyson took 2 years out ( voluntary or not) to get clean and is still a b***r draw than than AJ.

AJ has had his career stage managed not fighting in the US until he Eddie was happy was madness as was shouting about wilder fury etc and not facing any of them.

Even now the great British fighter snd where is he in Saudi Arabia ( again).

Lose tonight and it’s game over and it’s sall hearns fault.

Who is left in the division though?
If Fury stays retired Joshua would still get a chance because of the lack of others - same way Haye hung around for so long.

Usyk insisted on this fight being shown free in the Ukraine 🇺🇦

Btw

Usyk had intended to buy the Ukrainian rights to the event in order to broadcast them without payment in his homeland but was gifted them by the Saudi organisers in a classy gesture.
