Josh Coburn.

All depends on how much he's going to play. If he's going to get plenty of minutes even if it's coming off the bench then obviously keep him.

His overall game is still rough around the edges though (as you'd expect for a 19 year old) so going out on loan, playing week in week out wouldn't do him any harm. Might be the making of him.

I wouldn't loan him out with our need for 5 strikers, but I suppose it depends on who we sign and what happens with Akpom.

Coburn's goals per game is excellent right now, but he's struggled a bit when he's started under Wilder.

If his chances are going to be limited, it might be better for his development if he's loaned out, but I'd be getting him on a long-term contract first. He looks like he could finally be the elusive successful academy striker.

It wouldn't suprise me if we loaned him out. I don't necessarily agree with it.

Yet 'if' we land Muniz / Armstrong / Forss and have Watmore. How much game time will he get? He is maybe at a point where playing 30 odd games will do him good.

Although plenty have been loaned recently and not played. They would need to be very careful as to where to send him.

My thoughts in different thread

I feel the best thing for Coburn's development would be to go somewhere in league one where he is going to be a regular starter, hopefully bang in a few goals and come back in January to help us in the 2nd half if the season.

If he stays, in all likelihood, he will be getting 5 or 10 minute cameo appearances, he needs more than that now and deserves more than that.

We've seen when he starts games he has looked off the pace, much different doing that than coming on against a tired, over worked defence, sitting deep holding onto a lead.

He'll be loaned out
Dya think? We need 5 strikers. I would rather have Coburn as an option that Akpom if I’m honest, I think it’s worth seeing how he is utilised between now and January and if the game time isn’t enough then fair enough a 6 month loan would be ideal.

He’s one if the few players we know we can rely on a goal against any opposition. When your looking for goal scorers ut would be crazy to send one you have to help another club

Why loan your strikers out when none of the remaining options are proven (except Watmore who doesn't last 90 minutes)?

I think it's more about getting him the game time he needs to develop, he's still just a kid and needs that experience for his career. He isn't ready to be first choice here yet, so get him first choice in League One

I don't think anyone is saying loan him out as it stands. But IF we bring 3 in plus Watmore and he's only going to be getting 5 mins here and there it's surely better for his development (and better for us in the long term) to get more experience and play football elsewhere.

There's probably a different debate about whether he should be higher in the pecking order than 5th choice. But if he is 5th choice then it makes sense.

I like Diego's thinking of giving him half the season here to see how it goes, then make a decision.

I would say that any new signings are unproven to begin with, so a January loan possibly.
