Totally agree, he needs to go to league one to see how he can perform on a consistent basis. Let him go to a decent side like Sheff Weds (maybe) and perhaps he can bang in 20 or so goals. If he can prove to himself that he’s able to perform better then you’d think there’s no holding him back.
Then Spurs will sign him the summer after

Keep him, he is developing and may show enough to be part of the 3rd or 4th choice, mind you I not even sure CW does 3 or 4 choice after last season, you couldn't say who was what in the pecking order for a couple of months.

It is a bit weird, but I seem to remember him looking good as a sub but anonymous as a starter, is that a disservice?

It is hard as the games he started we maybe didn't just perform that well so he didn't have a chance to score/impress?

Loan allday. Lads got loads of potential as his finishing and movement in the box are already quality. However, the other side of the game, he is not where he needs to be to be considered part of the squad on a regular basis for a side pushing for promotion. IF he is 3rd or 4th choice, he has either improved and impressed preseason (hopefully) or we got our recruitment wrong

That was very much how i recall it. He seemed to impress more when we went gung ho and had more forwards on the pitch, or, when the other team were chasing it.

Either scenarios are easier to play in as a forward, rather than starting a game where there is less space, defenders have more energy and better concentration levels.

I'm classing Watmore and Coburn as our only two remaining strikers, assuming Ikpeazu and Akpom will find deals elsewhere. So for Josh to be considered as 3rd/4th then we'll sign two starters and those two will be our first rotation options.

Would that be enough? Riis/Twine & Coburn/Watmore, or another experienced option for the bench like Joao or Rhodes and loan Coburn out somewhere for some experience of the dark arts?

It all depends on who we sign and how many in his position. I think he has a future at the club in the first team.

When did our loaning out a striker to a lower league club ever do us any good? Danny Graham at an absolute stretch but that's about it.

I think we will sign 3 strikers. Two in the Gyokeres/Twine ilk where the majority of summer spends will go and then a more budget option like a Rhodes/Prem youngster on loan. Think this will leave Josh as 5th choice, dunc as 4th.

Given the way wilder plays, with two up top and two on the bench usually coming on, would be a bit of a risk to let Josh go out on loan really , although i would prefer that, only takes an injury or suspension and we are down to 3 and unable to play wilders preferred way.

But you could also say we've not had a homegrown striker good enough to improve?

I can't think of any 'the one that got away' type situations in recent memory.

Downing and Spence have had very successful loans that have made them an asset to the club (in very different ways).

Needs a loan to get regular games. He has done ok in his cameo appearances from subs bench with a good scoring record. When he has started he looks way off been a championship player yet,

Maybe. He did start two games in a row under Warnock (WBA and Luton) and scored in both of them but he's never really convinced as a starter under Wilder. His skills seem more suited to Warnockball where he basically needs to make a nuisance of himself and bang in the odd goal. Wilder needs a more complete performance and Coburn looks like he struggles with the need to be constantly pressing and harrying. He's only 19 though so he can still learn to adapt.

He's tied to a contract until 2025, with an option for a further year, so assuming we can get more "ready" strikers, as in two of them with Watmore backup, then I'd probably loan him out, for a year, with a recall option after 6 months.

He got a goal every 111 minutes last year, which for 19 years old is very, very good, but I just think he needs some time to develop his all round game to be relied on for a promotion push.
