Jordan Rhodes

He's scored about 7-10 goals in 2 years. He should fit right in😉

So no thanks. I think we probably need a big unit type. That said we only play with one up top and with Fletcher coming back I don't see us having 4 forwards on the payroll.

Aitor ruined him as player, he never wanted him at Boro, it was obvious as he hardly ever played him. You don't just go from a forward banging in the goals to one who wouldn't get a game in the Northern League over night. Confidence is shot to pieces.

I probably would have him back, if he was free and on relatively low wages. Possibly too much of a punt, but if he could rekindle some of his pre-Boro form, he could be useful.

We didnt really break him. Before he came he had started to dry up at Blackburn. He actually did ok in the promotion run in but in the PL he was out of his depth. Lost condidence and hasn’t really performed since.

No of course we wont have him back.

I met him briefly and he was a very shy timid person, you would even say nervy. You say confidence shot to pieces but I’d question how much he had in the first place.
As I say I only met him briefly And maybe my gimp mask was scarIng him 😉

Maybe NW could sort that out and get something out of him, but it would be a hell of a punt.

It was shocking how we treated jordan my first signs things weren’t tight was when karanka “rested” him after he arrived and kept saying he’s not ready yet.
This was just an excuse as he never intended playing him only in a token role.

Watching him warm up by the corner flag in front of the north stand with 5 mins to go as he watched other subs come on in his place week after week bordered on cruel at times.

we totally crushed his confidence.

Would you have him back ?
I actually would have Rhodes back. He never got a good run of games here. His treatment from AK was shocking. Warnock would be the perfect manager to get the best out of him. You don't score the amount of goals he did at Huddersfield and Blackburn unless you have goalscoring ability. I saw enough of him here to see there was a player in there. I actually think the way we play under Warnock would suit his style of play as well. But it would have to be at a good price.

I struggle with the notion that a 12 month period at Boro on massive wages somehow crushed the guy's sprirt. Basicvally it was August through to the transfer window in the premier league season that he ddn't play. He scored a few goals in the promotion run in, more so than he'd been doing in the few months prior to his arrival. What tends to get glossed over is how many chances he missed during the run in and how limited he was. Nothing against him, i enjoyed the goals at Bolton in particular, but i could never figure out why he had such a fan club.

It wasn't shocking, we had some decent strikers and he didn't prove himself to be any better than the others whilst here. And if a 1 year spell of not playing very often crushed his confidence then you have to question his character.

Rhodes isn’t the player he was at Huddersfield and Blackburn. He is probably now one of the worst strikers at this level. Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. We need to move on, there is plenty of strikers around who we could sign better than Jordan Rhodes.

Rhodes is pretty much the opposite of a Warnock type striker.

His goal scoring record was on the decline when we signed him so it isn't going to get any better now, the quality of the Championship has improved a lot in recent years. He was pretty awful at the Riverside for us but did score some important away goals to help us over the line. We also got our money back (more or less) for once so no hard feelings against the lad!

What a waste of money for Wednesday though.

One of my mates is a big Wednesday fan, and says he has looked finished ever since he signed for them.

I'll always love Rhodes for that last minute goal at Bolton. What an away day that was!

Did he ever score for us at The Riverside?
We got the money back for him, which was a miracle, but don't make the mistake of having another dabble, he was really poor here and has been atrocious since.
