Jordan Hugill

Hugills was a push, Greenwood’s was an elbow to the ribs.

Totally different levels of violence and risk of injury, even though it worked the opposite way this time around.

Nah I disagree. Elbow in the ribs? Thats what young lads do after telling a dirty joke isn't it? How hard do you think Greenwoods elbows are? Are you expecting Clucas's lung to collapse or something just cause a little guy like Greenwood gives him a nudge in the tummy? Would you rather get a push in the back from Hugill or a little elbow jostle from Greenwood at the top of a flight of stairs? Know what I'd choose... ;)

i didn’t see it

edit: but tbf greenwood has a bit of that about him. his fouls are so irritating sometimes because it’s like, why?
I think Greenwood fouls because he is trying to impose himself on the game, there would be better ways for him to do that but I suspect somebody in the background is telling him he needs to be more involved defensively.

The absence of Jones yerterday was not the different between losing 6-1 and going through

It could have a knock on effect though if Jones has done his hammy in and misses a few games as he's our most effective wide player

Super boro fan hugills complete petulance might be the difference at the end of the season reaching the playoffs

Don't understand your angle here. Surely you either think they were both trying to hurt their opponent or were both just being a bit physical to get a reaction? Why is Greenwoods deliberate and Hugills not?
Both actions are deliberate but if you hit someone with your elbow you expect to hurt them. You don't expect to hurt someone by pushing them in the back.

Jordan Hugill comes from a really nice family of good people.
I don’t really know the lad, himself, but he’s not a thug or a bully boy.
A relative of JH used to come into my record shop in Wingate and he was indeed a pleasant happy chappy

Pushing someone in the back two handed, with them not expecting it , substantially quicker than you , with the ball five yards away, to the point they fall over, is a booking.
And Its cowardly in addition, Jones had no idea that was coming.

Clucas chose to impede the run ( think that's still a foul ?? , haven't seen one given in so long ) , or chose to divert himself into greenwoods run.
He was choosing to either impede , or knew contact would occur
Greenwood continued his run. braces for impact. He hasn't swung an elbow, but tucked it in.

Clucas didn't expect it to hurt so bad .. mainly as the other 10 outfield players for us would of been too nice / deviated paths / complained to deaf ears etc.

As it happens, I reckon Hugill will of been gutted afterwards.

What I don't get about this is how IJ managed to stay on his feet after such a hard push in the back. Usually like a lot of players, the slighest touch and he's on the ground in and instant, any ideas?

It was an accident, the push was unnecessary but he never meant to hurt Jones. Jones wouldn’t have made much if any difference last night although we will miss him for the league games.

Let’s forgive and forget and he grown ups about it.
Jones uses thread about hugill to have another pop at jones. Get in the bin fella

He wouldn’t, we got absolutely hammered. It was no dig at Jones.

I have done nothing but praise Jones this season he’s been excellent, you are looking for something that isn’t there.

I think we'd still have lost but I think we lacked an outlet, which was one of the main reasons we got caught out several times in our own half. Having his pace to hit against a recently returning Chilwell, would have at least helped relieve the pressure. We also missed Coburns ability to hold the ball up too.
All ifs and maybes now though!

He would have forced their defence to sit deeper, that would create space between their defence and midfield.

We could either exploit that by allowing Crooks or Rogers space to get the ball and turn between the lines or their midfield would drop which would have alleviated pressure on our defence when playing the ball out.

Would Jones on his own be enough for us to change the result, 99% no. Would it have had a positive impact on the game and taken some pressure off us, 75% yes to some degree or other. Might have saved us a couple of the turnover goals.

Fact is without pace, Chelsea got to squeeze us without any risk. Jones isn't world class, but he does create risk with his pace, if you give him the space. Their defence definitely gave the space
