Jonny Howson

Leeds born and bred and hasnt been in a team that has won us promotion?

Mackem Leadbitter on the other hand ... (i think he missed the odd penalty too)

There was a thread a while ago about this. If he gets a promotion then absolutely. But at the moment that’s the difference between him and a Leadbitter

Got to achieve something first, I'd say.

He's a very long serving player, and he seems like a good guy, but the only really legendary moment in the near 7 years that he's been here has been a round of 16 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup.

Robbie got a testimonial and was it three promotions with the boro in his time at the club?

scored more goals too
My comparison is that a lot of fans didn't really appreciate the amount of work Robbie did both on and off the ball and feel Howson is a very similar player. He tends do the dirty work to allow others to take the glory. I wouldn't say Howson is as good as Mustoe (who is one of my favourite all time Boro players), but he (Howson) certainly doesn't get the plaudits he deserves.

For what it’s worth I think Howson is a terrific player who is almost getting better with age - those who say his legs have gone clearly do not watch him live, an incredible servant of the club who we will miss when he is gone.
I’ve never understood the legs gone thing. Not only does he cover a massive total distance, but he frequently wins sprint races on the pitch. Anyone want to see legs gone, try Rooney at Derby or Rio Ferdinand at QPR

A model pro - he ran things in that first half. Pleased he got the winner after having the pen saved, and the togetherness in the whole camp was clear to see in the celebrations afterwards

Tonight I didn't see him making the second half. I thought he was having a sciatica attack first half. When he took the penalty I was wishing it was Coburn. But well leadership is something you have. To score that goal, and instantly remind me of Leadbitter, says a lot.

He's clearly someone who makes us tick and loves his football. We are lucky to have him.

Probably not. Mainly because we have achieved nothing while he's been here. Took him a long time to even nail down a position of his own. Steady, reliable pro who gives you a 7/10 every week but is rarely spectacular (and very rarely terrible).

Great servant but not a legend.

That's Leadbitter too. He was great because of the players around him. Those responsible for giving us that extra bit after failing in the play offs.
