Good spread on Joni Mitchell's album Blue in this months Mojo. Really enjoying reading it. Blue is 50 years old next month.

If you ask me one day I may say its my favourite album ever. On another day I may say Hunky Dory. or something totally different. What I will say though is Blue has never not made my top ten best albums since it came out. It was wonderful then and still sounds wonderful today.

I sort of went off some of her later jazzier influenced albums but later came back to her. But those 60's/ early 70's albums were amazing. Blue being the pinnacle for me.

Joni Mitchell - Little Green

She is/was class. Her ongoing feud with birthday boy Dylan never seems to have been resolved. She has openly called him a plagiarist and therefore not a real artist. Pity.

I'll admit to coming to this album pretty late (last year or so to be precise) but it's absolutely incredible isn't it?

There's nothing quite like discovering a classic for the first time.

Joni Mitchell - Urge For Going

Recorded for Blue but left off the album at the last minute in favour of newer songs. Incredible that you could leave something like this off any album. Superb song originally recorded by Tom Rush in 1967.

Sounds more like the style of the Clouds album.

Yes it does. She was performing it from early 60s. She didn't release it until 1972 and only then as a b-side. Its mentioned on the albumsthatshouldexist blog. Think I will be downloading that later.

Well nothing beats Hunky Dory. Consistently in my top three.
Despite my age I'm not all that familiar with Joni apart from the classics, so will give this a listen tomorrow.
Anything to break the working from home monotony, I'm running out of albums! :)
