Jones wasn't offside

Why would you even bother looking at the grass?

You can clearly see he's ahead of the defender directly next to him.
It's offside.
He's offside (or not) when the ball is first touched by his team-mate.

That photo clearly shows that the ball is already leaving the foot and those milliseconds can make quite a difference if Jones is going one way and the defender the other.

It looked offside from the replay but given the angle of that photo and the frame it's been taken from it looks a lot closer than I thought it was.

I think it does matter a lot when you freeze the frame, it was a marginal decision.

He looked it on TV. I thought in real time he was on, but replays showed him a yard offside.
I thought jonesy did well first half and was so much better than Monday, we seemed to try and use a tactic of playing a ball behind bidwell for him to run onto
Jonesy though didn’t keep it up 2nd half though so we could use his pace and Carrick obviously then took him off
Much better from jonesy whilst on the field for me

He was offside at every point of the move from the pass.

I wish he hadn't been, but there's absolutely nothing controversial about that refereeing decision.

He didn't wait until he scored - he raised it the second Jones ran onto the pass

Well the ref definitely didn't whistle until the ball hit the back of the net. So that just changes my question, why did the ref wait until Jones scored before stopping play?

I agree, I thought it was offside live and the replay appeared to back it up. That still image doesn't prove it either way and makes it look very close.

Not that it matters. We go again on Wednesday.
