Jones' miss

When I’m at the Riverside I think Jones generally gets a lot of support from the crowd but there seems to be a few on here with an agenda.

It’s not like we lost the match either and Howson missed a penalty as well - notably hardly mentioned.
I started the thread and I like Izzy. I have no agenda against him, but it was comically bad. There are reasons he missed it, yes, but in terms of how it looked, you'll see few worse. We won, so we can laugh.

And to be fair on the lad he's had a few tidy finishes this season.

There's no agenda, he missed an absolute sitter that was impossible to explain, if it was any other player, the responses would be the same

Show me a man who never makes mistakes in whatever walk of life, and I'll show you a clown.

The play Jonesy makes and opportunities he creates are amazing. A key figure in the squad since the day he arrived from non-league. Cant fault him. Still only 24. Next appearance [if the maths are right] will be his Century [100th] for Boro!

He looked absolutely out on his feet on Friday I thought. He was sucking on energy gels to get through the second half but even in the first he didn’t seem to have his usual burst of pace. He’s probably desperate for a rest but we can’t afford to give him one at the moment.

It went viral on social media amongst neutral fans.

I assume they all have an agenda too?

It was just a really bad miss that's worth talking about and is funny to see now it hasn't cost us.

It won't be the last bad miss, and for most Boro fans the fact it's Jones will have absolutely no bearing on it.

Exactly. It literally doesn’t matter it was Jones. If Erling Haaland missed that it would get the same scrutiny.

He’s a really good player, and it was a bad miss.

He offers so much to the team both going forward and in defending. Yes he can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, but he’s a young footballer who joined us from Tooting and Mitcham!

I do agree with the comment above, he has looked knackered in the second halves of the last few games. Clearly really working for the team that’s being hammered by injuries. Get behind him!

I can see why it would be viral on social media, any unusual incident will these days, otherwise how else are people going to waste their time?

And although I don’t agree with very much that you post on here I do think you are right that for most Boro fans it will not affect their view of Jones.

As for agendas? You do see them on here and not just against Isaiah so if I think a player is worth defending I will do it whether some posters like it or not.

Any need for the unnecessary dickish comment?

It really wasn’t - their player was running at an angle away from goal and had to take the shot whilst running from 20 yards out whilst Van Den Berg was sliding in to try block the shot
I thought it was a worse miss myself because he had control of the ball more than Isaiah, the Huddersfield player got a really good contact on the ball but just wasn’t accurate enough.

Two different types of misses it has to be said.

The thing I can’t understand with the reaction to Jones is that he was clearly unbalanced and you do see plenty of fresh air shots in the penalty area with players not balanced it’s funny to see and looks bad but it’s not that unusual in my opinion.

The fact that he is unbalanced is solely down to him, he could and should have composed himself , controlled the ball and made sure he put it in the net but he was casual and fluffed the chance.
Didn’t matter in the end but should be a learning process for Jones.
