I thought this clown was ment to be one of the best defenders in the world at one time, surely he has the knowledge to pass onto this shambles of a defence!!

What exactly is his role or is this yet another case of jobs for the boys!!

Mowbray was a quality defender and we were all over the place under him as well. You need your senior players to step up sometimes and stop the opposition from playing, are Lenihan, Howson and Fry - as the experienced core of the side - really doing that?
I get that Viv and I do agree with that but surely if he is a coach and we ain't keeping clean sheets and the defence is all over the finger needs pointing at him too, he has already been in charge of the club once and he failed so I don't understand why he is still at the club!!

Yep can understand your point as well. That the opposition is sauntering through our midfield again is very concerning. It happened under Woodgate, Warnock and Wilder and now it’s started happening again.

I don’t really understand why they were so keen to sign the defensive midfielder from Brentford this time last year but still haven’t signed one a year and two transfer windows later.

I also felt that Carrick wasn’t that keen on Fry last season, playing McNair towards the end, and yet now he’s a shoo-in alongside Lenihan. Who himself seems to be a shadow of the player he was last January, February time.

Yep spot on, agree with that, the massive problem now is we have to make do with no transfer window. I really fear the worse now because that's only 5 clean sheets in this league since the turn of the year. I cannot see us not conceding in any game and if things are not sorted we could be adrift in the bottom three come December/January.

I’m not that pessimistic as it’s still very early on but there are a few things that eat away at the confidence, to start the game like we did today after two clear weeks on the training field is a bit of a concern.

Also one thing with Carrick is how surprising it is that he won’t just send them out to block the opposition off for 20mins and work your way into a game. I remember Scholes saying on telly that as soon as Man United felt the opposition getting a head of steam up he’d tell Keane or Butt or Carrick to just come and stand next to him for 5-10mins to make sure they don’t get through you, and then you can quieten it down and work your way back in.

Maybe Carrick is a bit too wedded to his style or his belief that we MUST play out from our goal-line or commit six shirts forward every time. To be fair that’s something almost every young coach is guilty of these days. You rarely see a team just stop faffing about in their own box in favour of keeping it tight for a bit. It’s the philosophy or it’s nothing.

All 3 have been poor , defenders who don't defend , Howson is a shadow of his old self .
Paddy McNair is dog todd, Dael Fry is going like he did under Woodgate.. Howson is slightly past his sell by date.. his replacement Barlaser was curdled before be got him home.

Disagree - Mowbray was given nothing.

Woodgate is part of the problem because he is clueless and we all know it so Carrick needs to start with him

Woodgate should be nowhere near the club, Carrick should have been given an experienced quality coach to help him develop.
