Johnsons comments about Elsie the pensioner today on GMTV

I bought into the need to watch the pennies, until we suddenly found over £1 trillion for COVID, which waterfall did that drop from.

As it happens we should support Ukraine in the strongest way we can. It's too similar to the Sudetenland land. It's a shame we have to leave it to the Ukrainian people.

Perhaps if we hadn't wasted £37billion on Track and Trace or however much was lost in Furlough Fraud or his Chums buying useless PPE. If the Tories hadn't done that, if they hadn't partied whilst we missed funerals...

It just amazes me when people still "like Boris"

He's robbed you, you mugs, to make his pals richer. But we still get shills repeating their lies for them. I hope you get those thirty pieces of silver. And if you do check them carefully...

I just caught up on this now. Firstly it was heart wrenching seeing Elsie and the parents with the 2 cerebal palsy children. I undestand, and share peoples anger.

My wife, who is not polictically engaged, listened to the interview with me, and was appalled. She wouldn't have listened to this, had I not taken my earbuds out and shared it with her.

I can only assume, that lots of tory voters, are not politically engaged, read one newspaper and believe the tripe they are fed. For clarity my wife doesn't vote tory. We are reasonably wealthy and the cost of living crisis has not touched us. Without my wife engaging more, most of this will pass her by.

This is the underlying problem, and it is also why Johnson is done. His policies will touch enough people negatively, to see the tories loose an awful lot of councils in next weeks by-elections. When you can't afford to eat, you don't need to watch the news to know the government are shafting you.

Johnson is a dishonest shyster who has no real political ideology beyond helping himself, a low rent, low grade person who has somehow conned a Party and an electorate into a belief that he's somehow capable of running a country, forget likeability or popularity his competence, or lack of, should have had him nowhere near any high office, I honestly, hand on heart, cannot think of any situation in which Johnson has made something better, he sits there with his Trump length blue tie, smug, mocking and deceit writ large over his jowly, entitled face.

I would rather we didn't have a Conservative government, I do not hide my political slant, but I have friends, long time Tories, who are beginning to see the damage he is causing not just to the Party but to the country and the people therein, we are a default dictatorship with nonsense policies and no coherent path forward, he talks in mid and long terms without any shame, kicking the can of his own ineptness further down the road, for when the mirror of delusion that Johnson reflects his superiority and statesmanship in eventually shatters he will be long gone with a £2m memoir book deal which will reveal, as many of us already suspected, that he was laughing at us all all along.

BP generate massive profits from operations outside of the UK, surely they should should share the profits with those countries ie Egypt, Oman, Azerbaijan etc?

They are investing heavily to reduce carbon emissions. That is something to incentivise?

Should they recieve back dated tax breaks when O&G prices are rock bottom?

The UK government should simply be asking all big companies (Amazon etc) to pay their fair share.

What Laughing said above is why I don't think there is any chance of shifting the Tories from power.
We may not be down the Orwellian rabbit hole just yet, but the combination of Tory media and voter non-engagement has been curated to keep the powerful in power.
What started with Thatcher has now manifested into a bunch of men and women not fit for leadership being in office. They aren't just out of touch, that would imply they could have a road to Damascus moment, no, they don't care about anything but the furthering of themselves and their friends.

Well said. But can I politely just remind you the elections are THIS week not next week. I wouldn’t want you and your wife to miss them. That would be a disengagement too far. I have sent my postal vote in.

We don't have a local by election.

Ah ok but for the many who do TOMORROW is the first real opportunity to have some kind of say on the regime you are living under. It maybe local elections and a resounding defeat may not change things straight away but for all those months watching this bloke take the p1ss and laugh at you make tomorrow count with a single ✖️

Yup. It will put additional pressure on the back benchers to get shot of Johnson.

He has been on borrowed time since lying about parties.

Did you know that the "Festival of Brexit" long since re-tagged as "Unboxed" has been underway since March? At a cost of £120million.

Anyone noticed anything? I did hear that there was an installation of "parked vehicles" on the M2 in Kent that is visible from space. In your face China. Yerr Great Wall got nuthin on Brexit Britain.

Someone should tell Elsie, it'll cheer her right up!

It's the M20, I know because it's about 3 miles from me. Even if I'm driving away from the coast it's ruined the traffic because operation brock slows westbound down to 50. Then we've got the brexit lorry park, which makes the sky glow like a supernova at night. It's ruined any chance of me taking any astrophotography northwards. Must be a nightmare for those that live even closer than me.
