The exact quote

"It is clearly now the will of the Parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader of that party and so a new prime minister.

He confirms he will serve "until a new leader is in place".

People who have resigned, are accessing jobs. If he can get business through he will make new legislation to get it thorough. Highly unlikely but not off the cards

He may call a general election remove the whips of the people who aren’t with him and parachute new candidates in

Unlikely again, but not implausible

I’ve had, in the past the joy of having driving through some of the Southern States of America, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia Mississippi….
In particular on a Sunday morning, tuning into various local ‘preacher’ radio stations.
Listening to the absolutely unhinged rants of various “religious” maniacs….well it helps pass the time.
Watching Politics Live and Steve Baker seemingly out of nowhere declaring that Johnson was responsible for some remarkable successes, mainly saving us all from threat of the destruction of our way of life from Corbyn’s Marxist inspired government, and freeing us from the years of slavery in the EU.
Then suddenly declaring his entry in the race for PM. Another driven, but dangerous fool.
The man is a bit of a religious maniac, allegedly. Bit of a reminder….but too close for comfort.

You might want to tone down the condescension.

You stated repeatedly this morning "he's gone". Well he hasn't has he? He's still PM. Everyone understands were not America and he's not president.

Everyone understands to govern he needs the numbers in parliament. He can't do it alone.

What people are saying, not unreasonably, is that Johnson doesn't care. That's based on his past behaviour and current comments. You must have noticed he doesn't give a toss about convention or the rules?

He will eventually be forced from office by hook or by crook. Of course he will. But there's a very real chance he'll make it messy and try every trick in the book before then. It's already started with this ridiculous caretaker gambit to delay the inevitable. His brain doesn't work like other people's.

That's what people are saying. It's not that they don't understand the points you make. They're just guessing that Johnson might try and bend the rules and convention to the point of breaking. As he has done on multiple occasions in the last few years.

Good old Rory Stewart has the same concerns.


It's not a done deal yet.
 
Rory Stewart would be an excellent leader of the Conservative Party and it's testament to the ineptitude and incompetence of Johnson that people like him decided to leave Johnson's circus.
