Johnson & Sunak untouchable?

Anyone feeling like Johnson is untouchable in all his dishonesty? You are not alone. Two of my good friends have come up with the splendid idea that we should all email the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.

She's called Katherine Stone OBE
email address is standardscommissioner@parliament.uk

If you're stuck for wording, you're welcome to copy/paste this:

"Dear Ms Stone

Regarding the so-called ‘Partygate’ affair, in which both Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak were fined for breaking the law, I am appalled that as of today both are still in post with apparently no further sanctions possible.

It is for this reason I am writing to you in your capacity as the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to ask that you request the Commons Select Committee on Standards that they be suspended with immediate effect. Parliament is being treated in a disgraceful manner and I believe the highly dishonest conduct of the Prime Minister in particular to be a serious threat to our whole democratic process.

Thank you for your consideration" etc

Go on, you know it makes sense.....

Automatic reply.

Thank you for your email to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.

This office aims to respond to all correspondence within five working days, however some responses may take a little longer. Please note that only personalised correspondence will receive responses and generic campaigns will not be responded to individually.

Please see these links for further information on the Commissioner’s role and frequently asked questions. The standards expected of MPs do not change during the pandemic, and the Commissioner remains committed to upholding those standards.

Done mine and got the standard response back.
I added the following on the end of the standard email ;

Johnson’s use of language to describe why he broke the laws he created are insulting to the ‘Public office’ he holds on behalf of the British public hence my email.

‘It did not occur to me’ (lawyer written) should not be a defence in any way at all and goes to the heart of damaging our British democracy.

I sincerely hope your intended actions ensure he does not get away with this damaging use of words which is surely going to have historical destructive impact on our democratic functions.

Yours sincerely

Well a vote taking place on Thursday, well done everyone 👍

Well of course the mindless clones in the ranks of the parliamentary Tory party are just going to vote that down. The Great Leader must be protected at all costs, including their own scruples and morals. So much for the party of Law and Order.

Think the trigger might been pulled too soon on that.

If I was tory I’d be reluctant to do anything other than abstain. If you vote against the notion you will be easy to campingn against.
