Joe Williams signs for Bristol City

We are still stuck with the monk and pulis detritus.
If the purchases of Assombolonga, Fletcher, Saville and McNair are being amortised over their contracts - usual practise - then the fact is the P&L this season will be hit by over £8m in amortisation charges.
Then add the wages of those four players and I am sure there will be a further hit of £6m.

So play a zero base budget game and see if we took to the pitch with just those 4 contracted players the hit to P&L would be £14m this season. Without a real crowd or other commercial income this year, I'm not sure we will generate that much more in revenue.

So when you prattle on about how important it is to hold onto these stooges, take a look again at those numbers.
If Gibson chooses not to inject equity (as is his right) then we will have very little FFP wriggle room if we do not move on these plodding nothings.

These players will understandably not move on for worse terms and other clubs will not make the same mistake we made in paying them far far more than they are worth.

Hands up who wants to pay a 10 goal centre forward at least £40k per week; the one who chuckles when he misses chances.
Hands up who wants to pay a big fee and salary for 11 goal sensation Ashley, the only 6 foot 3 bloke who is scared of 5 foot 3 shadows and can't connect with the ball in the 6 yard box.
Hands up who wants the international duo who would only be stars in the League of Ireland.

The club will be trying to move players on to enable them to bring players in.
The truth is nobody seems to want them.

If Gibson won't inject equity then FFP prevents anyone coming in, without further departures. It's simple arithmetic.

If this was last season I would be worried but now we have NW and his team I'm confident we will have things in place for the start, I think a few loans will be incoming

EP - more likely £18k a week or £3.6m for 4 years plus £2.25m fee.

We are not offering OTT wages and fees any longer.

4 years is a long contract in the current climate.

Warnock will know what is likely good value and what is not.

At auctions over 90% of what I bid for I never get, but I still get a number of bargains over say 10 auctions.

Hang on lads, we haven’t “allegedly “ signed 2 Wigan players, who were not exactly top class, plus Northampton’s centre half. Would they really have made us a better team...... not sure, are you ? Warnock knows more about this than any of us so let’s just chill and let him get on with it.

I’ll be honest and admit I’d never heard of him prior to us being linked and that’s not meant as disrespect to the lad, more that I don’t pay that close attention these days.

Who? Never heard of him before we were linked and they arnt exactly gutted on the wigan forum. Lets not think we have lost the next Patrick Viera ffs.

From the wigan board

Williams was a grafter and always put in a shift, him and Morsy were great together during our good run. I don’t think he has the ability to be a top Championship or Premier League player though. He isn’t technically great and I don’t think he makes enough happen when he’s on the ball. It’s a good move for him but I think we actually did well getting the fee we did with our current circumstances

Didn't we try to bet the farm on Waghorn last year? Not a total donkey, but figures of approx £10m bandied about and no way would we have had a good return on that.

After the profligacy of Monk and Pulis, this is the penury which follows. I mean, you could always invest in a decent scouring setup... but why bother?!

We had the same issues with recruitment when Pulis was here though. I remember us missing out on loads of targets. We desperately needed to sign a couple of wingers but we ended up with Saville for £7m instead.

I really hope it's not going to be another case of us missing out on all our targets and we end up having to panic buy so that we can get players in before the deadline.

The problem I have with all this is the targets’ nonsense.
I’m sure we could get some consensus on the target positions.
As for the players to fill them - all we do is regurgitate the lazy press tittle tattle ‘’Boro target X’

You'd like to think we identify main targets and prioritise signing them first. I'd imagine the players we've shown an interest in but missed out on have been those main targets, so I just hope we're not left having to bid for players who we originally didn't have a strong interest in.

But, why do we imagine we are missing out on our targets?
It’s paper talk isn’t it? Nothing more
