Great news FatCat and Artie, it’s been a very tough time for you both by the sound of things and it’s great to see things are looking up for you both.

These threads genuinely bring a smile to my face because it shows the true value of this board - some complain it’s tribal and too political and yet when there are members of the board who need help and support there is an abundance of it from everyone and it’s a delight to see.

We are all a good bunch on here despite the occasional disagreements and its fantastic to read good news on here.

Best of luck in the new jobs for both of you, and I hope they’re the start of something long term and successful.
Thank you very much WG 👍

So I have just been offered and accepted a job! Phew. Now sat refreshing my email every two seconds awaiting the onboarding docs.
I’ve been this far before only for it to not happen, I will only be happy when I am sat behind my desk on the first day, albeit that desk may be in my house initially.
Thanks for all your well wishes - this has been a very difficult 18 months, hopefully now I can look forward! Do you think it’s too much to ask for three points for the Boro tomorrow as well!
That is great news and an early brilliant early Christmas present for you. (y)

Thanks Wee Gord you are right about the board a great bunch and I’m pleased to see all the messages of support.
In my unemployment the board has been a great outlet ( Ive probably spent far too much time on it) but there are so many interesting threads.
It had got to the point where I wasn’t really contacting my friends or family as I was avoiding the dreaded question “have you found yourself a job yet?” Being able to come on the board and having an outlet to chat has probably kept me sane!

I was exactly the same and partly why I delayed my original post on this thread by a week until after accepting verbally the offer, but now I've got my start date and induction confirmations I feel a bit more confident. I know what you mean, it's not until I'm sat doing the job that I will be 100% convinced it's happening!
Artie - this is also great news to hear and understand your delay on telling anyone.

Onward and upwards for you both - When do you start Artie?

Thanks Norm - start on the 4th. 2 induction days first then into the (brand new!) office on the 6th. Not sure yet if there'll be any working from home, I imagine there would, but as it's a completely new team, I would imagine we'll all be office based until we find our feet a little bit

Can totally relate to that FC, it got to the point where I didn't even want to go into our local shop because of being asked if I'd found anything yet - the staff are really nice people and only asking out of genuine concern, but it definitely became a bit depressing having to say "no, nothing yet" every time

It is it hasn’t quite sunk in yet and I’m still a bit nervous until I get the paperwork all signed sealed and delivered but it just puts a whole different complexion on things.
You'll be in front of the office holding up a company shirt and scarf for the local paper in no time!

Still waiting on my job start date :-( the amount of paperwork these days is incredible.
Just got the all clear in my dbs check - it went in on the 18th Dec and just got it back a couple of days ago. Only many to take a few days but apparently they are prioritising (NHS, Emergency Services applicants etc above everybody else) This is absolutely the right thing to do in the circumstances but doesn’t help my own personal situation. Anyway hopefully I will get the contract signed soon and be back making a living!

have you started yet Artie?

uodate: just spoke with my godson who has applied to do the vaccinations and they need dbs checks as well - if you need a dbs for anything else you need to apply as soon as possible as there will be a longer than normal queue.
