James McClean criticises FA and EFL over crowd abuse

Riyad Mahrez.
Carrying a Palestinian flag in a Premier League match to show his support for the Palestinian people against Israeli Colonisation and Occupation of their land.
Is he a "terrorist", "stoking the fire", "not very bright".....?

If you are really trying to compare the image of him holding a flag with McClean then you’re really missing the point.

McClean sings songs about the IRA, poses with a balaclava mask which has IRA connotations, has IRA tattoos, defending the singing of Irish womens team singing IRA related songs and has made several questionable statements. It’s quite clear that what he thinks.

There would be nothing wrong with him having the opinion that Ireland should be reunited. Or his belief that he shouldn’t wear a poppy. It’s the other opinions and beliefs that he has that are very questionable.

Trying to compare with that picture isn’t quite the gotcha you think it is.

And if Mahrez was doing this in Israel then he wouldn’t be very bright either. As he would be stroking the flames and looking to get a reaction.

My dads family are catholics and their ancestry can be traced back to Ireland. But there should be no doubt that McClean is a pr*ck and while some of the abuse he receives is out of line - how people cannot see how he brings it all on his sell. I just don’t see why people bother trying to defend him like he has done nothing wrong when there is so much evidence against him. It’s not about the poppy, it’s about all the other crap so stop trying to justify him.

Your comments are interesting, not least because I make a more fundamental point than simply attacking Mr McClean.
This idea of "gotcha" is below me, as I dont play shock tactics or attempt to belittle others who may have a different take on the situation.
The idea of "stoking the fire" is an emotive issue and one which raises the whole question of the right to dissent and question the "norm".
The notion that my comments are to justify Mr McClean is well off beam and I have never, nor will ever, justify him or his actions.
Why people defend him I cannot speak for them, and your assumption that anyone who raises broader issues - regards peoples beliefs and actions - is unacceptable, shows your level of intolerance and pre-conceived ideas of what you think is right or wrong.
As for Mahrez not being "very bright" if he raised the flag in Israel - I would argue [from actual experience], that he would have more courage and principles than anyone who makes unfound assertions about looking beyond the narrow confines of Mr McClean.
I would suggest that telling people what you think they think, is neither acurate nor factual.
I have no interest in defending Mre McClean and suggest you dont smear anyone with your own bigotry or prejudice.
If you want an arguement about Mr McClean, feel free, but dont make assumptions and dont include me in it.
Im not interested in a battle - ground about Mr McClean - just making a much broader point.

Poppycock.
You obviously thought that by posting that picture it would show that people have double standards with regard to McClean / Mahrez. Maybe it does, but don't try and pretend you are thinking on a higher plane than that.
If you're not interested in a battleground about Mr McClean then why contribute to it in the first place?

Footy fans are a great model of consistency and levelheadedness.

I’m rather surprised a man who has views and shares them can move them to such vitriol/
I mean, all that happened, was that 14 people were murdered by UK soldiers whilst marching peacefully.
It happened such a lone time ago too.

He really needs a sense of perspective.
