What happened to his deal with us, I thought it was a loan with a permanent move at the end of the loan? I can't recall seeing anything on here about it so had a quick look on TransferMarkt. I know that isn't always correct but from what I can see it looks like we paid £2.7m for his loan / permanent move, then the permanent move was cancelled and he went to Estoril on a free. Does anyone know if this is correct?

No, it's saying that Transfermarkt thought he was worth around £2.7m at the end of his loan period, no that we paid that much to loan him.

This, I reckon the obligation to buy was based on promotion and or a minimum number of games played hence why he so rarely came off the bench.

I don't think it was an obligation to buy. I think it was more that we had first refusal (at a pre-agreed price).

Anyone who saw him play for us can tell you what happened with that though.

Absolutely awful. One of those were people said 'he's played in Europe' and 'he's an international'. It don't mean anything.

God we got the loan market wrong last season.
 
He was weird in that he seemed skilful and had good technique but he was so erratic and lost that you could never trust him. He’d ping a 20 yard pass to someone’s feet and then he’d play a 5 yard pass straight to the opposition. Never looked like he had a clue what his role was defensively, similar to Payero, just looked lost.

Still not as bad as Kike Sola. I saw him for 45 mins and still not convinced he's a professional footballer lol. What made us sign him? Was he Karanka's mate lol?
