Jacob Young - Look what he's achieved for the area

Total b***ks by an MP yet again. That £40 million was probably already a done deal and most likely a done deal by the Local Council. In reality, Young will have done very little.

He is no different from Dodgy Ben, who also creates an illusion based on other people’s work.
It is the same spiel that Houchen, Clarke and Vickers use to try and gain votes but directed as if they had played a major part in it. How you can play a major part in something that is not happening or not going to happen is beyond me.

My fear is reform win, people not wanting to vote tory, don't like Turley and don't know anything about 'reform' other than it's new snd not one of the other 2

Reform will be working hard to win the seats win by the Tories in traditional Labour constituencies. They're using the anti immigration, strongly anti immigration, pro nationalist propaganda used successfully when the Nazis were on the rise. That's enough to win votes, their voters will be completely unaware of what else they stand for.

Surely all Reform will do is split the tory vote and let Labour in?

Exactly. I hate to say it but all Politicians do it as well. Not just bloody awful Tory politicians.

Rory Stewart talked about similar last week to Politics Joe. He mentioned how MP’s have very little input into most things. Especially if, like the majority of them, they are a backbench MP.

Like a lot of things in Britain, politics needs a total revolution (so to speak) to make it fit for modern times. The way people vote, the way the vote is counted, what MP’s actually do, where they actually go (Westminster is a shambles of a building). Like most things though, nothing will happen as the few who become MP’s do very well out of it. Even those who go into it with the best intentions.

If you think that's bad, you should read Houchen's facebook comments, makes me feel sick every time I see that crook have a post shared by some nugget on my profile.

It's like a brainwashed cult, he's sold the airport to them like the monorail crook on the Simpsons and instead of figuring this out, they just keep asking for more and more crooked schemes, drives me round the bend how naïve they all are.

To be fair to Ben though, he does often reply if you ask him a question, but when you dig too far and touch a nerve he dives into whataboutery and slagging off Labour as an attempted diversion.

The big problem for me is how we achieve a coherent long term strategy in key areas while having elections every 5 years.

Pr system would likely result in coalitions, which is good because you can spend your terms undoing stuff the previous govt has done with agreement of other parties. Which would be good in relation to tories and could help with cronyism

If Anna Turley doesn't win Redcar at the next election, my guess is the Tories will win and we'll have more of the last 14 years, but worse.
The crazy thing is that the tories could win! Boundary changes and all of this ‘vote for or else’ stuff from Labour doesn’t really wash. A last minute move towards the centre with a few heed the ball MPs thrown under the bus and they could do it.

Anna Turley will struggle in Redcar.. the stuff with Unite, The Birthday Club.. anti brexit, anti constituents, anti membership, anti leadership.. fingers crossed for her twitter bubble supporters.

Gonna be an interesting election.. very much an air of Labour 2010s lack of self awareness all round, the Conservatives have been dreadful. Labour.. hardly inspiring.

Huge gains incoming for the ‘third parties’ - Lib Dem are still a bit of a wreck, I expect Labour to gain from the SNP in Scotland at least.. big gains to be had from the Green Party if they can get their act together.

Conservative minority
or a Green Heavy Rainbow Coalition?

Reform will no doubt make up some ground and prop up the Trumpian Gangster Grifters!

Andy McDonald is a good egg at least.

The problem I have with PR and coalitions is that they frequently seem to collapse resulting in more elections. To me this doesn't create more stability.

Reform is such a fine piece of marketing sparkle of a name.
British Union of Fcukwits would be more accurate

In an ocean of nasty and ineffective Tory politicians, our Tees Valley lot are especially tepid and toxic.
It’s hard to decide who sets the lowest bar. Vickers, Young, Mortimer, Clarke, Gibson…I know people see Houchen as a cut above the rest but history will judge him negatively when people fully understand the position of Metro Mayor and the things that could and should have been achieved.

A real show of entitled ineptitude.

The more we can get rid of the better our area will be.

What do they mean by reform? Surely we all want reform. I want proportional representation but I'm guessing that's not what they represent. For that reason they should not be allowed to use the word reform as its misleading about what they represent, a bit like the words Labour and Conservative.
