"I've been told that an offer has been accepted"

Wots London got to do with it???

He’s a young lad with high disposable income. Where’s he going to enjoy that more?

They train like two hours a day, then they have the rest of the day to kill.

Essentially I think that’s what our struggles to recruit players boils down to. There’s **** all to do here.

Not a very ambitious move, Boro to Bournemouth, more money and Premier League for a year.
Such an arrogant stance this. I'm gutted that he's gone and I think we'll struggle to replace him. I like McGree but I don't think he's the replacement for what Tav offers.

He's got a chance to play at the highest level, live in a beautiful part of the country and no doubt at all, get a huge pay rise along with the chance to keep them in the Prem.

Your comment suggests that our own walk in the Championship wilderness for most of the last decade has been somehow more preferable. We were short last year in what you could argue was a relatively weak season with just Fulham really standing out. I personally think we look weaker at the minute and we need bodies in ASAP otherwise it might be a similar season.

If we don't progress there a risk we lose Wilder too, which would be a very bad outcome.

either way hes not irreplaceable imo, although dissapointed to see him go.good luck to him,hes always give his all for us,we now move on.

All of this is bang on, plus maybe Tav knows more regarding transfer targets and doesn’t see promotion as a possibility with us. An if he stayed, an we didn’t get promoted, that could have been his chance gone.

I don’t blame him at all. He’s been absolutely fantastic for us and I’m gutted to see him go, but he’ll certainly get a warm welcome from me should our paths cross again.

No offence mate but you thought Woodgate would be a good manager.

Nobody is saying Tav is irreplaceable but you don't sell your best players if you're serious about wanting to go up. He was a massive part of the way we played with a high tempo.

Wilder did NOT look amused at all when responding to the Tavernier question in this morning's press conference.

What were your thoughts on his mannerisms, reaction, body language, tone?

I hope he's braying Gibson, Bauser and Scott's door down for some of Bournemouth's money to go and get a replacement.
This is the business model Boro are trying to nurture so Wilder is an integral part and totally on board with that. Brining in young players thro the academy or from lower leagues, developing them and selling for a profit.
I've seen nothing to suggest that Wilder is blaming the club for Tav or the way the transfer market is panning out, he seems totally on the same page as the club. He reiterated that he and the club did all they could to keep Tav but it was down to the player.
Also, lots of folks having a go at Tav for going to Bournemouth.....it's a cracking move for the lad. Look how many seasons they have spent in the EPL recently compared to us before deciding that they are guaranteed to come straight back down.

“Closer to London”

Ah yes the old….. all us northerners pine to live in or near London line that always gets trotted out by the southern press.

Well I’ve got news for you……we don’t.
Yeah not sure the London thing is a factor at all.

I think it’s only a sideways move for Tav if Bournemouth come down and we go up, both of which are by no means certain. If Bournemouth come down and we are still in the Championship they’ll inevitably be better able to challenge for promotion. Similarly if we go up and they stay up the odds on us being relegated will be shorter than theirs.

Tav while a good player for us isn’t yet in the bracket that middle ranking EPL clubs like West Ham etc….are looking, a club fighting relegation from EPL is the best he can hope for. I know some will say what about Spence, but he’s almost a project for Spurs.

This transfer shows again the big disparity between EPL and the rest.

When he signs for another club they MIGHT ask him if he would like to sign a shiny new CONTRACT!!!
Yes I know that. Think you misunderstood my comment completely . What I was trying to say was as he only had a 1 year contract with them he wasnt tied to Bournemouth should they go. down - thats all. And by the way stop shouting!

There is no way that his contract is only going to be one year. That would be insane. What club is going to pay 10 Million plus wages for just one season?

I think you've misunderstood the situation mate. Tav has two years left on his current contract with us. When he moves to bournemouth (which seems inevitable now) he will sign a new contract with them which will likely be 3 to 5 years long. If bournemouth are relegated this coming season Tav will still have 2 to 4 years left on his contract.

Sorry I thought he was signing a 1 year contract with Bournemouth- I read that somewhere. It must have been nonsense. That makes sense. I knew the Russian owner had bags of money but he’s not stupid (like me)

Do you know where Bournemouth is?
