ITV Big Match Revisited

Every Wednesday ITV 4 at 6. Currently going through 76/77 for the last few weeks.

Terrible pitches, pitch invasions, fighting on terraces, your going to get your F***ing heads kicked in blaring out the telly at tea time - marvellous.
Last week Terry Cochrane scored a screamer for Burnley no wonder we signed him.
This week 52,000 at Anfield for a 4th round FA cup match vs Oldham.
Different world

I was 16 at the time of the cup tie & can still remember a group of us got in the Holgate at about one, I was sat on the holgate wall right behind the goal, just reading my programme when all of a sudden fans running past me towards the north stand, some Arsenal had come in to holgate & chased a few lads, it was over pretty quick

I have the sports gazette of the day

The only game I seen Phil Boersma play well, saying that the whole team played well

I was a little younger, stood at the top of the Clive road corner.
There were a load of Arsenal fans in there initially but they soon got chased out and into the south terrace !
It was a great day despite all the bother.
The big match coverage does not do the atmosphere justice. The shoot version was much better (much longer).
Was convinced the cup was ours after that , but went to Anfield next to be very disappointed.

It reminded me again of Supermac and how he loved himself. If that bloke was chocolate he would've eaten himself.

Saying, that I wished we'd signed him!!!!

plenty of arsenal fans in the East End celebrating when Super Mac scores

Was Tyne Tees not around in the 70s? It's always pictures from 'Yorkshire Television'

I was in the Chicken run towards the away end as I had gone with my Dad. 2 Arsenal fans started shouting and a man walked towards them and thumped one of them. The other one ran off. I started to laugh and a fire bucket still full of sand flew over my head. We had to move in the end as they started throwing coins as well.
Great result.

Linthorpe Road was like a war zone on the way in and out. To be fair to the police the use of the tarporlin was quite clever.
