It doesn't need more money being thrown at our 'weaknesses'

The idea that Woodgate was a good defender so he should therefore be a good defensive coach is moronic

All the best defenders of all time, it's not as if they all started out ***** and come good when they turned 25 due to good coaching, they started off already good at their age level
and improved with games, not with coaching

Coaching is for 10 year olds, i would imagine at proffesional level the level of training at most pro clubs in on a par, regardless if the coach of that team was a good player or not

So the idea you can just coach a 27 year old defender into suddenly becoming class or whatever is a misguided concept in my opinion, you can't coach say , mobility and athleticism
which is a huge weapon lets be honest, if a defender is slow then you have to coach into him Franco Baresi levels of positioning to make him significantly better

It's as simple as taking punts on younger players and playing them enough until their game awareness becomes much better and they make better decisions, not magically coaching them
to run twice as quick and jump an extra 50cm

Our squad probably cost a fraction of the Leeds squad, the player who scored their third goal cost over £30m, which is double our record signing. Our biggest signings on the pitch on Tuesday were all under £5m. Granted, Doak and Lath maybe worth approaching that if they develops as they are, but Doak’s on loan. Dan James, their key player cost around £25m and isn’t even a regular starter.
They’ve got the best squad on the league and FUBARed it badly last season. They’re a mid table prem squad and should beat us 9 times out of 10 at home

Spot on. Far too easy a ride. Clueless at changing the way we play when it's not working, especially at home. Like for like subs. 2 yard goal kicks and back passes when a goal down and time running out. 1 man up front when a goal down and time running out. Midfielders who don't even attempt tackles that he carries on playing. Full backs that never stop the cross. Lots of basic stuff.
That’s a very basic analysis. Some would say clueless.

You coach 10 year olds and below simple
Technique, you might refine it in the teens and I guess even at pro level there might be some bio-mechanical analysis that gives them a touch more control. Kinda like when a pro golfer rebuilds his swing.

From about 12 onwards you start to coach units, def/mid/att and when 14 or 15 you get into phases of play as a team in pose/out poss/positive transition/negative transition. When pro level that coaching is more precise understanding the triggers for that team, distances, and speeding up what you’ve honed at kids level to still work at pro. Lots of coaching is necessary to get the team on the same page
