It’s not going to be Biden v Trump, is it?

Who would actually decide if Biden runs? Is it purely down to him or can the Democrats step in? It will be interesting to see how this plays out as the longer it goes with Trump gaining traction and people jumping all over Biden's mental state, I can see Democrats becoming increasingly jumpy
The decision is taken by the nominating convention. The primary process selecting the delegates for that has already started. Biden does not at this stage have a credible challenger and has won both states so far contested. If he stood down sufficiently soon, or it became too apparent that he was unfit, a credible candidate could perhaps emerge through that process. If he stood down later, it would be up to the delegates currently pledged to him to decide.

Both Tony Blair and David Cameron were 43 years old when they became Prime Minister. Regardless of their politics, they were both political giants compared to the older PMs who have come afterwards.
OK, deal.
🤝
43 and a half = minimum age for UK Prime Minister. Agreed.

As for US President I'll start the bidding at 50.
Clinton and JFK were both younger than that but were in fact actually daft lads still having a laugh. Particularly with the ladies.
Obama was younger but is the exception which I don't think should become the rule.

Got to be too late to replace Biden so close to the election. Just have to face up to Trump again.
Anyway its the US - we have our own election to worry about.

Another major gaff overnight as he broadcast a response to the the report... Trying to defend himself and his term in office he mixed up the president of Egypt with the President of Mexico when discussing the current events in Gaza.

They are literally handing this election to Trump
The reality is that Trump wouldn’t have a clue who is in charge in Egypt. I can remember George W Bush whilst in office was “pub quizzed” on world leaders and he wasn’t very good.

Trump misspeaks all the time. He recently kept going on about “supply change” instead of supply chains. He claimed quite ridiculously that no one had ever heard of them before C19.

Biden is a nice man compared to Trump but he needs to stand aside now. The stakes are far too high and a younger person won’t give Trump cognitive abilities as an issue.

The democrats for the sake of democracy must win in November. Trump deserves to be in San Quentin and not Pennsylvania Avenue.

Of course it’s not too late. I mean, given his age there’s a non-trivial chance he won’t even be alive at the nomination convention, and a marginally bigger one he won’t be on election day and you would have to replace him then. So it’s obviously possible.

It is likely to be politically difficult, but after that car crash performance last night, I am seriously beginning to doubt whether he is electable even against the Orange one and the Democratic party owes it to itself, to the people of the United States, and to the people of the world to put up a credible candidate who can beat Trump.

Trump was as thick as s**t and twice as clarty before 2016. He was also a pathological liar. And a racist. And a massive narcissist. And a misogynist. And a terrible businessman.
He was all these things between 2016 and 2020.
He is also now convicted of sexual assault.

It doesn’t appear to matter to the millions that vote for him or the media that fuel him.

That is the real problem.

So calling out his misdemeanours is a waste of energy. Don’t focus on how bad he is. Everyone knows. You have to promote someone who can be seen to be better. Biden in reality 100% is. But his baggage (age, demeanour, classified files, his son, links to his son’s businesses) has strong potential to get in the way.
4 more years of Trump is terrifying. The pandemic perversely helped stop him from ruining more but can’t pin our hopes on that for next four years.

Biden is 81 and in much better health than Trump, who is 77.

Ever seen Donald Trump ride a bicycle? I don't think he knows how to.

Also it's widely known that Trump needs to wear glasses, but refuses to ever be seen in public wearing them as he sees it as a weakness. That's why in photos he's often squinting at everything.
