It’s not going to be Biden v Trump, is it?

Biden needs to stand down at his age & decline the role of President should not be available to anyone.

Trump is crushing the caucuses ATM though they are hosted by the parties & voted on by the rabid ultra members: his MAGA clan..

When it comes to the election we'll see how much damage or not the charges have impacted on Trump.

Biden needs to go, long before this republican created 'report' dropped, he's way past use by..

Biden should be standing down for the good of his country (and beyond). Incredibly selfish not doing so, or delusional. Which is not much better.

Trump being just as bad and almost as old isn't really an argument for Biden running again.

Neither should be in that office for the next term at the best of times and this is far from the best of times.

Michelle Obama is no different from electing Swift or Zuckerberg or any of those other celebrities. It's madness that a country like America can't separate governance from gameshow.

Our politics is hardly a standard bearer for electing quality but I think we have at least got a handle on voting for a party rather than an individual. The US system seems bonkers. How Trump, who had no support from within his party, just decided to run for President (and won!) is ludicrous.

I just feel the need to inform you the special counsel is a Republican and Trump initially gave him his job
He was appointed special counsel in January 2023, under Biden's presidency. He was appointed by Merrick Garland, who is Biden's Attorney General.

If your referring to his time as US Attorney for Maryland, whilst Trump did appoint him, upon leaving the post he was praised by the Democrat senators in the state for his "excellent service" and for "upholding the finest traditions of the office and faithfully following the facts and the law".

This is not a piece of purely partisan politics. This is a big problem for Biden.

The politics of the Special Counsel won't come into this. He has landed a blow and Biden will be answering questions about his age and mental acuity from now until either polling day or when he steps aside. Every mix up will be blown out of proportion. Trump has started within minutes of the statement. People already ignoring the fact the counsel dropped the charges. Trump demanding the same in some sort of quid pro quo.
Trump hounded Clinton into defeat over an email server. Not that she had shared files or actually had Top Secret info on her email. Just the mistake of doing it. Made her out to be unpatriotic and the system covering for her and hey presto he becomes president.
Reality is that Democrats could only put up a handful of candidates capable of losing to Trump. Unfortunately Biden is one of them. This election is already too close to call and every mistake Biden makes will make it tighter. Democrats should tell Biden to move aside voluntarily or be cast out. Get Michelle Obama in now and she can be in charge for 8 years which will kill not only the risk of Trump but also one of his family

Did anyone watch his press conference live last night?

It was all a bit mad, the jounos all shouting different questions at the same time and then you have Biden stood there swaying trying to pick out a journo like he was choosing a pasty from a Greggs counter.

By 35 you could have completed education and had a very good and distinguished career before turning your hand to politics.
Most will still be daft lads doing things for a laugh though.
Also I think the leader of any nation should be doing more than just 'turning their hands to politics'. Whatever their age.

I don't think the daft lads will be looking at a career which leads to being president. I'd say it was more like those who have graduated from an ivy league school, then had a career in their profession, became highly educated and respected in their profession and then entered the political stage at the lowest stage (city/state) before going through the ranks and climbing the political ladder... Not all 35 year olds are daft lads doing stuff for a laugh.

There are x2 89yr old senators, 81yr, 80yr and there are also some 35yr old, 38yr old, 40yr old aswell. The average age of the senate is 64 and average age of a congressman is 58, but you only have to be 35 to run.

35-65 seems a fair balance

35 yrs old for a Senator, or an MP, fair enough. But not as President or Prime Minister.
I doubt that the experience you list there - including climbing the political ladder - would be properly achieved by age 35.

(My daft lads comment was tongue in cheek btw).

35 is too young I think, particularly for a man.
Most are still daft lads at heart, doing things for a laugh.
45 at least.
Both Tony Blair and David Cameron were 43 years old when they became Prime Minister. Regardless of their politics, they were both political giants compared to the older PMs who have come afterwards.
