It’s like a new signing ….

You know what right, regarding the "let's not get carried away" sort of comments, if a new signing from outside the club had put in the performances akpom had the first 3 league games everyone would be raving about him. Maybe this style of football just suits him better. All the best to the lad I hope he smashes it this season.

Considering his Goals to start ain't bad . Warnock didn't give him any confidence. If we stick with him maybe this current manager will get the best from him early signs are good.

Shades of Marvin Emnes after Mowbray brought him back following Strachen deeming him not good enough because he wasn't married (or something).

Emnes was a much better footballer than a lot give him credit for. Mind you, the same shower used to slate players like Downing?!?

I see Wilder described him as a ‘technical’ player which suggests he thinks he can play, I would think he has a good future if he keeps his head right.

One swallow doesn't make a 'keeper' in my book. I hope the lad can keep it together, but I suspect Wilder is quite literally playing Chuba until he gets his CF target. Hanging onto him as an insurance policy imo.
Not saying that's bad on Wilder's part. Just prudent.

That’s great football. UTB
A couple of season ago, I recall us catching a team on the counter, Coulson was involved in getting the ball forward and we scored. It was a sublime move and one of the best goals I had ever seen us score. Buggered if I can remember who it was. Chuba's is as good as that goal for me.

He definitely appears stronger. I'm very surprised how good he's been with his back to goal. The effect at QPR was stunning.

I was always surprised Wilder didn't give him a chance earlier. Why he didn't go to Portugal and basically told 'find a club'. It seemed wierd as I presume Wilder had never seen him play and more so train in the flesh.

Definitely seems to be up for it. Although interesting to see if he has the same 'fire in the belly' when the window closes and we've maybe signed another 2 big money forwards (who'd you think would have to play).

It's a great opportunity for Akpom. He's in his final year so can earn a new deal or put himself in the shop window for a decent free move. Also realistically where can he go this summer that's 'better?'. He'd be daft not to take this opportunity.

Whilst I would never say he was the answer. He was definitely hung out to dry by warnocks hoof ball (as was Britt). We went from Keifer Moore as first choice to Akpom. I mean completely different players. Whilst clearly asked Akpom to play the Moore 'role'.

Hes not going to have to do much to better the goal returns of Balogun / Connally / Sporar and Watmore. I don't see him as the fabled 15-20 goal forward. Yet even double figures would be a decent return.

In our top 3 of strikers regardless of 2 possible upcoming additions and a valuable member of this season’s squad for sure. Yes, he ranks ahead of Coburn and Watmore. Go Chuba👍

Wilder says he's a manager that you can influence by your performance on the pitch and in training. Although why he persevered with the lad from Brighton last year, I really don't know. But Akpom has clearly done enough to persuade Wilder that he is 1. a good footballer 2. a player suited to Wilderball 3. a good character. I would hope that, if he keeps delivering, it will be the new signings who have to step up and take the starting position from him. Hope he stays fit. He looks a real player.
