Israeli hostages taken in Gaza

So if you think nothing can help their cause do you therefore support the actions of Hamas? I certainly hope that's not the case. There is appalling murder from both sides, and an immediate ceasefire and some breathing space should be the first step along with giving the Palestinians access to water, fuel and food.
I don't support it no, I don't support any violence but it doesn't surprise me, you back a dog into a corner and eventually the dog will bite back.

Israel caused this, it's a product of the environment that the Palestinians have been put in for 80 years.

The issue is that its easy to say Israel caused this, but the reality is that the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah along with Iran will say Israel has no right to exist, they want to wipe it off the map. Personally, I think the whole situation is horrendous and I believe that the vast majority of Israelis and Palestinians want to live in peace. The only way to achieve that is through a two-state solutions which is as far from reality as it's ever been.

However, this situation is not solely the responsibility of Israel. They face an existential crisis every single day surrounded by hostile neighbours with very sinisiter intentions. Hamas are doing nothing but harm to the Palestinian people; however, it can only be the Palestinian people themselves who remove them which sadly isn't going to happen.

It's a very fckd up situation but there absolutley is blame on both sides. Sadly, I can't see this doing anything other than escalating into a much, much bigger conflict locally, if not globally.

A bit of history if any one is interested…Early expansion of humans out of Africa, In which developed the Natufian culture followed by the Ghassulians then followed by The Canaanites around the Bronze Age period. The Canaanites had a religion centered Yahweh a form an archaic form of Hebrew language. Canaan state paid tribute to Egypt. A people named Israel first appears in an Ancient Egypt inscription in the Merneptah Stele. The Phillstines around this period settled on the Southern Coast. After this There’s a multitude of different Kingdoms forming in the region, including the Kingdom of Israel, Kingdom of Judah and the Phillistine States. Then comes along Alexander the Great who takes control over the area… and when he leaves it’s the Kingdom of Judea (Judah) which eventually succeeds and takes over. Along come through Romans and break it all down into provinces, There was the Jewish-Roman wars… which the Romans eventually win and rename the whole region Syria Palaestina, Jewish community were expelled as result. Some continued to reside. Then there’s the Byzantine morph out of the Romans… and Christianity takes over Roman Paganism…Emperor Constantine is less tolerant of the Jews residing there and there’s a Jewish revolt. Around 634CE Rashidun Caliphate take over the region which brings about emigration of Muslims and local Conversion. Then was the Holy crusades which brought back Christianity not long after Muslim rule is restored by the Sultans of Egypt. The Ottoman Empure rule the region and have a war with Napoleon. Which the French abandon. Then we have British Manadate of the region… which named the region Mandatory Palestine… World War 2 happens and British Mandate ends. The rest from here you’ve already been debating.

Not taking any sides.

Ultimately, nobody causes violence except the perpetrator of that violence, the individual who decides to kill an innocent person in cold blood with no mercy. This is madness. That is the choice the individual makes, to either act like a dog or consider other possible more human ways of behaving.

The Jews are victims of violence, the Palestinians are victims of violence. None of this stops until individuals understand that they are ultimately responsible for violence and the ending of violence.

I've just read about a family of 5 who were murdered having found " safety" in a bunker in their home
The bunker was breached and the husband wife 2 x 6 Yr old girls and 2 Yr old son were executed

Someone please please stop the world I want to get off.....

It's just becoming the holocaust all over again.

Wtf are we as a species....

I’ve just watched channel 8 from Israeli TV. It showed an old retired soldier laughing when describing blow torching to death Palestine civilians in cages, that’s after raping the women. I hate the carnage from both sides. What do I hate more? The hypocrisy from the media, Ken and Karen next door, and the bought politicians white washing Israeli terrorist soldiers over decades.

An eye for an eye makes the world go blind.

Nothing justifies slaughtering innocent people and children. I aim that at both sides. Regardless of what shaped their current being, Hamas are a terrorist organisation though, that is not debatable.

What would you suggest would help their cause? Because it's been 80 years and nothing seems to have worked other than they get more land snatched off them and more of their people murdered. They just sit by and do nothing while they see their open air prison get smaller and smaller?

Open air prison?

You mean Israel has restrictions for Palestinians crossing into Israel.

Israel places no restrictions on Gaza's border with Egypt, but Egypt does.

Yes. They can't leave, they can have their water and/or power cut whenever Israel decide, it is an open air prison.

Along with getting carpet bombed whenever Israel fancy it.

Yes, hatred just breeds more hatred. Doesn't matter what religion or political cause you have. The Jewish forces retaliate, the Palestinian forces retaliate. It goes on.
And going on marches in the UK in support of Palestinian liberation when innocent Jews have just been murdered in cold blood is totally misguided and only adds fuel to the fire of never ending violence.
Humans are very stupid.

I don't think that quite covers it. Look at the Israeli occupied areas in the West Bank. Israel restricts Palestinians from moving around Palestine.

Israelis told Egypt that they would blow up any lorries carrying aid to the gaza border .

Yep. Now he's considered his initial wording he's got it spot on and no press could argue with this statement.

I'm not so sure.

— and the only way to achieve peace is to end the occupation.

Israel ended their occupation of Gaza in 2005.

Some organisations (Amnesty International for example) consider all new territory under Israel control since 1967 to be occupied.

Obviously there are issues with the map below but saying "end the occupation" is a massive red flag.
If I, someone who is generally supportive of Corbyn, see that then I'm pretty sure his 'friends' in the media are not going to miss it.
