Is Wilder a ‘Lucky’ manager?

The saying is “you make your own luck” and to an extent Wilder has deserved some luck for the way he has Boro playing. We look a cohesive unit, with a game plan, and you can see we look determined, organised and more importantly, dangerous. But is he also lucky…..?

Swansea - on another day they could have had a couple. McNair clearance off the line saved us going behind and I honestly believe it was a stonewall penalty when Lumley came sliding out. Couldn’t believe it wasn’t given.

Bournemouth - missed a couple of sitters. They should have had at least three. Especially the one right on halftime. Can’t believe the lad sliced it wide from a ball right across the 6 yard box from the left.

Forest - Obviously the first goal was a huge stroke of luck but a huge turning point was the Zinckernagal miss just after half-time when he was a couple yards out and skied over unmarked. Even at the end they missed a consolation goal when they hit the post from a sitter.

Blackpool - They hit the post twice and managed to have a ball in from a corner fall harmlessly into Lumleys arm when it should have hit the net. They could have had at least three tonight.

Hey, nothing to moan about. Sometimes you earn luck but over the last couple of games we have had a huge slice and long may it continue. Something special is brewing. Enjoy tonight. These moments don’t come often?

Up The Boro

We were unlucky against Millwall and Preston, but lucky against Swansea and Blackpool - so overall neither lucky or unlucky for me.

Bit of both, but it wasn't luck when he brought Whatmore on. He knew that there would be the opportunity for his pace as the game opened up.

I'm not sure about lucky. A draw would have been fair on Blackpool tonight.

That said we should have beat both Millwall and more so PNE. It still needles me how our only defeat came to a god awful PNE side who should have been dead and buried (Peltier hitting bar a 1-0).

The one thing about tonight's late show. We had 5-6 players arriving in and around the box in the 93rd min... Like the red arrows streaming forward (well green😉).

Most sides will be quaking in their boots at the thought of playing Wilder's Boro team, home or away on recent form

Ifollow stream i watched had bbc lancs commentary thats what they were saying about us (single'in out Jones as one of our best players in the team) saying no one in the championship will fancy playing the boro at the moment with our fast paced pressing style

We missed a fair few chances in the games mentioned too.

We have had some luck in those games but have generally looked a much better team under Wilder.

We've missed a load of absolute sitters ourselves recently, so I'm not sure you can say it's luck.

Watmore against Stoke being the prime example.
We could quite easily have had 24 points out of 24 under Wilder.

The only games I felt we pushed our luck were tonight and against Swansea.

We should have comfortably beaten both Millwall and Preston, but bad luck (and bad refereeing) prevented it.

This, he had no luck in his first few games. Might have had something to do with Bamba being dropped too mind

Really good thought provoking post and wilder is a hard working man and I recall the golfer Gary player stating; the harder I work the luckier I got

Yet another game where luck has played a huge part. I cannot believe how many sitters Mansfield had. They could have had 5 or 6 goals in that second half, yet we go up at the end and score an injury time winner with an own goal.

I am absolutely LOVING this run of fortune we are having. May it continue but we are desperate for a new Goalkeeper, a solid centre-back and a ball winning midfielder to steady the team.

To be fair, they were fortunate to go in at half time 2 down.
