The saying is “you make your own luck” and to an extent Wilder has deserved some luck for the way he has Boro playing. We look a cohesive unit, with a game plan, and you can see we look determined, organised and more importantly, dangerous. But is he also lucky…..?
Swansea - on another day they could have had a couple. McNair clearance off the line saved us going behind and I honestly believe it was a stonewall penalty when Lumley came sliding out. Couldn’t believe it wasn’t given.
Bournemouth - missed a couple of sitters. They should have had at least three. Especially the one right on halftime. Can’t believe the lad sliced it wide from a ball right across the 6 yard box from the left.
Forest - Obviously the first goal was a huge stroke of luck but a huge turning point was the Zinckernagal miss just after half-time when he was a couple yards out and skied over unmarked. Even at the end they missed a consolation goal when they hit the post from a sitter.
Blackpool - They hit the post twice and managed to have a ball in from a corner fall harmlessly into Lumleys arm when it should have hit the net. They could have had at least three tonight.
Hey, nothing to moan about. Sometimes you earn luck but over the last couple of games we have had a huge slice and long may it continue. Something special is brewing. Enjoy tonight. These moments don’t come often?
