We've just been asked for volunteers to go into school as more students are returning due to parents going to work.Than any form of Faux concern about their education.
I was in school two weeks back and there was around 30 students present.Have friends working at schools that have stayed open so children of key workers can attend school. They have all said the kids are not really learning anything and they are just well paid child minders.
Nail on the head Petrio. My wife (a teacher) says exactly the same.Speaking as a teacher: My opinion is that is has nothing to do with education whatsoever. Their reasoning is two-fold. 1.Enable more parents to return to work, this helping to get the economy moving again. 2.Send in the youngest who are less able to socially distance and see whether it causes a higher rate of infection/death; in other words, an experiment.
There is a manipulative media campaign trying to build the idea that the teaching unions and teachers have different intentions. I can tell you, they don't. Both want children and staff back in school, when it is safe to do so. Nobody in government is convincing us that it is safe.
Williamson didn't answer a single direct question about safety today, simply repeating 'education is important'. Trying to guilt the profession into playing ball.
Aside from not knowing how infectious kids are if they catch the virus, you've also got the questions around who will look after them in the window between school finishing and their parents returning home from work, particularly as the option of grandparents looking after them should be an absolute non-starter for now.
