Is lockdown over where you live?

hate saying it, but this lovely weather has come at exactly the wrong time for the 1st day after restrictions are eased and meeting as rule of 6 or 2 households

Newcastle and the surrounding parks are an absolute joke. Jam packed with predominantly students on the hoy in large groups and not a mask in sight. What was evident however was the amount of litter and other clearing up the council will have on their hands in the coming days

I'm not trying to have a pop at youngsters, but this and the scenes in Nottingham which are very similar, have all the hallmarks of some people bolloxing this up and we'll be in another lockdown. If the govt need any excuse to go in that direction, this is their perfect opportunity. I really hope I'm wrong for everyone's sake, we all have reasons to get out a bit with friends, including my own selfish ones

It was a perfect storm yesterday evening of restrictions (very slightly) easing, lighter nights and scorching weather. The Thames path near me was as busy as it could be in March with no pubs. I think that's the thing. People have seen a slight easing of restrictions as an all out end to lockdowns entirely

Artie, the Brighton beaches last year and BLM protests didn’t cause a spike, seems outdoors is safe enough. Plus Easter weekend is forecast to be bollocky freezing, so we’ll be fine. 50% of the population with antibodies, the vulnerable vaccinated, there come a point where we need to chill a bit.
Maybe your right and I'm overreacting. And you're right, the summer scenes were not the cause of any spikes as far as we're told. I just really want to get out of this and dont look favourably on anything which may derail that

It's more about the fact there are still rules in place and they should be adhered to in my view

I'm probably just being a middle age fuddy duddy

Your last sentence is what I'm driving at and I don't want some to b***r it up for all

And while last summer on the beaches maybe didn't cause a spike, uni students returning certainly did. There are still social distancing rules to comply with, but that's not happening within certain groups

I don't get the bit about the government wanting an excuse to lock things down again. They'd open things up totally given half a chance.

To be honest it's the filthy flippers leaving all their rubbish that bothers me most.

edit: I got away with a sweary, there.
Maybe Capy, I may have been clumsy with my point there

You’re not wrong (you are being a middle aged fuddy duddy 😂😂). Seriously I think it’s more that we‘ve got into a state of despair about our future because we’ve had so many knock backs. Six weeks ago I was hoping that the lockdown release could be accelerated, now I’m happy it won’t be.

But things returned to a kind of normal last spring/summer without a vaccine and this time last year we were heading into the height of being totally screwed up, whereas now we’re heading out of it. I think its time to give ourselves a break and hope and expect the best not the worst.

Plus I’m so convinced outdoors has never shown to be a problem.

Preston Park II this thread :ROFLMAO:

In fairness, it's mostly kids excited to be out with their mates with absolutely no attempt at social distancing.

People are gonna take any opportunity to see each other at the moment, as you never know what is coming next. Obviously people should stick to the guidance and stay out of houses but outdoors I think its all pretty fair game, the rule of 6 is never really going to be enforceable/practical outside in public areas and if I was 19 I know what I'd be doing. TBH I'm nearly 39 and my diary is filling up already in April (all within the guidance of course).

I don't see that. I've been out today and that's included going in two shops, and I've still wanted to stay as far away from other people as possible. I'm seeing a couple of friends at the weekend and I'm not sure about that either. And we've all been vaccinated.
