A couple of potentially telling things I took from the announcement yesterday:
The government (again) have been vague/far from transparent with the actual figures they're aiming for in the "four tests" (or perhaps I've just missed it) - we saw this tactic in the Autumn leading us into tiers/lockdown. Bad news then but arguably good news now (as it offers some "flex" in the system)?
I think everyone agrees that this lessening of restrictions is more cautious than previous, but is it deliberately too cautious? We know this gvt like a success story and could they be aiming to under-promise and over-deliver? Wouldn't surprise me.
Further example in the media this morning - leak about ending business support three weeks prior to certain sectors being reopened. Almost certain to be rode back on in next week's budget and therefore claimed as a "success", "look what we've done" etc.
