Is Boro’s new Hokey digital e-ticketing system fixing a problem that didn’t exist?

Just as most fans had all finally mastered how to use the Boro ticketing system of recent years, it’s all change again! Different contradictory instructions for IPhones and Android phone owners, you can/can’t use your season card, the correct match will/won‘t, might(?) appear on your screen, Chairman‘s complimentary drink e-vouchers that leave you parched, and endless unfathomable online Q&A of dos donts and cans and cants, complicated downloads, in out, shake it all about, and all left in the polite but helpless hands of apologetic hapless stewards and kiosk staff… and the football isn’t easy to watch either atm.

Is it really worth it just to keep up with the Arsenals?

we live in a techy nerdy world now thats for sure - vast herds of nerds, with nerdy rulers..... some of them elected.

I am on android my digital season ticket had the Huddersfield game still showing unfortunately it let me in to watch the qpr match
Mine did too.

I was also told that I couldn't use my phone for a drink at the QPR game so had to buy one, despite using it for a drink at the Huddersfield game.

🤔

At some point in the future we will laugh at the thought of carrying bits of plastic, paper and dirty bits of metal in our pockets.

Way of the world unfortunately.

Boro are damned if they keep the old systems, damned if they try to move to current paperless systems.

Sure everything will just take a bit of time to sort out

Have you heard of the Carrington Solar Flare? Wiped out the technology that existed at the time. Fortunately it was at an early stage, but it crippled communication in the US and Europe. A couple of hundred years later and the impact would be devastating. Gotta laugh!

It could have been more gradual and more involved - seems like July 15th - we are going with the latest tech and everyone with a new season ticket or move will go onto to it...from today.

What about in March/April 2023 informing season season ticket holders and offering them a genuine choice. I am sure 50% would have been happy to go full digital and the other would have felt involved and less anxious, because they still had plastic/paper as their choice.

I have also had it from British Gas for my very elderley parent this week - "congratulations your account is going online". The parent does not do online and does not even have a working email. It took a wait of 40 minutes on the phone yesterday to explain to someone in South Africa at the BG call centre about my parent. The first reply was the new online platform is great, its as though people can't comprehend what is said to them.

We have more ST holders than others turning up. So yes, was no problem for STs but now is.

Hmm, so it would knock out VAR?

I don't think they're doing anything to keep up with anyone or to fix a "problem". At a guess it's probably just tied into the natural cycles of upgrades with system maintenence, interface with software etc etc along with no more tickets in the post, tickets being printed out, or bits of plastic being sent out.
I'm sure there'll be issues and areas where it could be managed better (there were issues when most premier league clubs rolled it out a season or two ago). Having said that you'll probably have forgotten the change was even a thing once it's fully up and running.
