Is Bola at LCB a possibility?

Seems unlikely, but maybe he could be one that changes CW mind about him?

He's played the position before and would definitely be able to step into midfield and join in with the play.

Had a good game yesterday, albeit against part timers, but maybe he's given the manager food for thought?

Would be pleased if we could find a role for him, I like him.

I thought it was interesting that he was angrily shouting instructions at Giles when warming up in the first half, probably annoyed that a player has came in in "his" position.

He did well yesterday. I think he sees himself as a left back in a 4 though and will probably be hoping he can leave if something comes up. If not then he is good enough cover for Giles and can also play LCB

I think both Bola and Coulson looked lively down the left and had a good half. It was a pretty easy run out for them both I suppose.

He seems to get bullied for set pieces. A combination of timing and letting players climb all over him. Could be interesting at LCB

I know it was only the first game but does anyone think it relevant that LWB and LCB were left footers all game?
I think that’s a valid point. I reckon it’s the way wilder will go this season. If that is the case, one of Dijksteel or McNair will be on the bench. Also assume one of Fry or Lenihan will be on the bench. Good options though.

I think I'd prefer to see Bola start ahead of McNair in the LCB position to be honest.

When I reflect back now on last season, I believe McNair playing LCB may have been a big factor as to why we weren't anywhere near as effective in an attacking sense down the left side, as we were down the right. It also makes me question whether it was one of the reasons why whoever played LWB seemed to struggle. I think they were often left isolated due to McNair wanting to drift inside.

I'd prefer for a LCB to be brought in but I'd be happy for Bola to stay and provide competition for that position.

I said to my lad while we were there that I wondered if McNair not being utilised as the LCB was an indicator of the coming season.

If it is between him and Dijksteel for RCB who do you think will get the nod?

Dijksteel seems better getting up and down, recovery pace, tackling, athleticism etc. and links well with Crooks and Jones. McNair is a better passer maybe and carries the ball out better.

I suppose Dijksteel has the shirt currently and it is his to lose till he needs a rest or loses form?

I think it is definitely part of the reason we didn't get out down the left as frequently, but I think a bigger issue was both Bola and Taylor just weren't as attacking and effective as Jones was on the right.

Giles (from getting ten assists last season) showed his crossing ability in the Bishop game, he will be a big upgrade on either of those. We just need a couple of strikers to get on the end of them now!

Giles precise whipped crosses and Jones' pull backs and short crosses from up near the 18 yard box will be much more difficult to close out rather than just doubling up on Jones like last season.

We'll have a few more weapons to attack with this season.

I've said it a few times before, I think he's an excellent defender especially on the far post. The season before last he was brilliant. However the season before that couldn't get in Blackpools team and last season never got going. I think if he's managed right he could be very good in that position.

Dijksteel for me definetly. Think he’s class and massively important. Also McNair misses the first game due to suspension so that could play a part. Wilder has some tough decisions to make for sure.
